Just got a flat today on my 2 week old '3. Anyone know if the dealership will cover repairing the tire? The flat is caused by a small piece of metal still stuck in the tire. If not I may just take it to Mr Lube as they are much closer and I think it's a simple patch.

They won't 'cover' it, but they will fix it for a fee. Take it anywhere to get it plugged.

Is MAP the extended warranty? I have the 6year/120k.

Thanks Jeff

They do for me - I have the extended warranty.

Also, this warranty covers me for any other tyres I buy through them, so depending on cost differential, I may order my winter steelies through them later in the year so they are covered.

Most places when you buy tires will throw in road hazard for like $50 or less for the set...and as we all know, dealers charge a huge markup that'll cost you a lot more than $50 over normal tire places.

Like I say, I will be doing a price comparison before I settle for doing it through Mazda...

It cost around $10-25 to plug a flat tire.
Good that your MAP will cover it....but won't buy that for that reason. It is much more than $25.

And what if the tyre can't be repaired and needs replacing?

Yes, that has happened numerous times on cars that I know about.

Exactly my point. My 'what if' was for those without the coverage who say it only costs $10-$25 to fix a tyre so why bother.

I should quote more :)

Not sure I see your point..

People who have MAP also get a small amount of road hazard for free... they don't buy warranty to get the road hazard coverage.

To be honest, I don't know what MAP is. I thought it was some kind of acronym for the warranty or something? I will look it up :)

IIRC they don't plug tires anymore,it has to repaired from inside which means taking the tire off and then re-balancing.

Tom17 = MAP is Mazda Added Protection, its the factory-extended warranty. It extends warranty of the entire car plus a few more things (e.g. road-side assistance)

When I bought my Mazda I bought a tire warranty. I think its tire specific and has actually came in handy - patched two flats and completed replaced a tire for me for free.
