I saw this at corksport and it looks really nice. A little pricy at $389 USD but if they had one for the sedan, I might consider it.

I will be ordering them from www.japanparts.com soon to complete my JDM conversion. CAD $390.

The one from Japanparts is slightly different, though.

I like the one from Corksport more and if they made one for the sedan at a lower cost, I would definitely consider it.

The one on Corksport is Euro-spec, whilst the one on JapanParts is the JDM one.

I think the corksport is not EuroSpec... I think the ones in Europe have the same as the Japanese Spec ones...

I\'ve seen the CorkSport ones on Pictures of 3\'s from Iceland and (I think) denmark... I know the JDM ones are definately axela/Japanese Spec.

The Euro-spec lights have a red foglight in place of the back up light on the left.

Hey Arthur, noticed I lowered the price?;) I\'m ordering the set anyways to have in stock. It will take approximately 2 weeks because they come from Japan.

Any word about the HIDs from the US model? There must be some way to retrofit them...I don\'t care about DRLs.

Just an update; the LED tail lights should arrive September 20, 2004.

All this talk about LEDs on the hatch...

My question is if the hatch has LEDs at the back in japan... what does the sedan have? Same as what\'s here?

I think the sedans have just the plain clear lenses minus the LED.

Ok for starters the Mazda HID unit costs $420 per side. The HID bulb is $304 and the headlamp housings are $714 per side. A good reason to purchase an aftermarket HID kit.

So the total cost is approximately $1100 CDN + taxes + installation/labour?

Are there any benefits in going with the Mazda OE Xenons? We would still have to deal with the DRL issue, no?

Xenon

I\'ve decided that I personally have lost interest in them... If only the the taillight AND the signal were LEDs, Then it would sway me the other way.

more than $1100..

HID Unit $420 per side = 2 x $420 = $840
HID Bulb $304 per = 2 x $304 = $608
Headlamp Housing $714 per side = 2 x $714 = $1428 (do we really need a different headlamp housing for the OEM HIDs?!)

so that\'s $2876 + taxes...from my understanding of what flipspeed posted

minus the headlamp housing it\'s $1448 + taxes ....holy shiet either way!

If you go to speedstar, I\'m almost sure that it won\'t be over $1000.

A reminder that the topic in this thread is Hatch LED Taillights....

If you want to talk about Xenon HID Lights, there is a thread here (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=497) to discuss it.

mEtH

They will NOT fit the sedan. completely different. Just grab 2 pictures, one of a sedan and one of a hatch and you\'ll see the curves from the bodyline are totally different.

Got a question. What happens when one of the LEDs burn out? Can you just replace the single LED or the entire circle? Yes, I know LEDs have a long life span but just curious to what happens.

bluntman

Dunno. There\'s bound to be replacement bulbs, either aftermarket or through Mazda, but until then I\'ll put back my old tail lights. :D

another question about the LED tail lights... are all 3 lights (brake, turn, and back-up) replaced with LED\'s? are the lights just a direct swap with no need to modify the existing wiring harness? what are the advantages/disadvantages of LED\'s?

thanks!! :D

from here (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=467) paraphrasing autoexe.. \"the only thing that\'s LED is the brake light. the turn signal is a regular bulb as well. the reverse light is normal bulb too. it\'s a separate piece but comes in the kit so you can\'t opt out of it\" (autoexe, 2004) :D

What majic said, but moreso, the housings are a direct replacment for the normal housings. You\'ll have to remove two bolts per \"brake light/turn signal\" housing and the wiring harness connectors snap into place. I used a socket wrench and I was done in about 20 minutes. I didn\'t replace the back-up lights since they were essentially the same unit eventhough you get those in the box along with the LED unit.

The advantages of LED lights is that they last much, much longer than normal bulbs, the light that they emit is much more brilliant and they are very fast when they turn on and turn off...then there\'s always the \"pimped out\" factor. ;)
