Anyone know where I can get it? I know I can buy online but I don't want to wait.

Even if anyone has some kicking around!

Thanks.

Meant to put this in the Mazda 3 general section, not Mazdaspeed 3 forum.

Sorry!

I used paint thinner, I'll post up pics of what it does. But I think (not 100% sure) but plasti dip thinner is really repackaged paint thinner. But be careful, use small amounts and don't let drops sit there for mre than 3 seconds, the plastidip will be gone. What I did was follow the video. dipped my finger (wearing a glove ofc) in a small container of paint thinner and smoother out the rought spots, then resprayed.

There was so much texture in that spot, but then it became smoother than everything else. If I had patience it would have been better...

I don't NEED to use the thinner but I kind if want to just go over the surface a little to even things out. Would you recommend it? Or not worth the effort?

the plastidip thinner is a blend so it's not as strong as straight paint thinner. Makes it easier to work with for small touch ups and repairs. I've never used just paint thinner but i imagine you'd just have to be a lot more careful to avoid taking too much away

If its bad. Peel and start again is my opinion, but I never saw it so its your call. Once you start you can't go back :/

Right, well that makes sense.

Did that the first time. Haha the second time (which is on now) looks a lot better. But I don't want to have to start again, again. Or incur that expense in materials yet again. I'd rather just fix what I have because it's not at all bad to begin with.

Like I said. It's not bad. But it's not perfect. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/16/yquvaba6.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/16/qedysu3e.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/16/uhy4ujug.jpg

I'm thinking about putting some glossifier on there - the matte kind of looks awkward on this color car and I think gloss would look way cleaner.

Would a coat if glossifier fix this/even things out as it re constitutes the top layer of dip?

Dude I personally would leave that to settle, its not too bad but if you use any variant of paint thinner it will be a massive difference.

It will look different like the photo I posted up before. Sure you can blend then respray but chances are that they will have a different shade of black now that there is a new layer between plastidip coats. I don't know how to explain it properly, but you can always try it for yourself. Best way to learn is by failing.

True. Well I don't want to screw it up again haha

Anyways, I think I want to hit it with some glossifier. The matte look just isn't doing it for me, at least not with the cars current setup. I think it would look better glossy.

Would a glossifier layer re-constitute the last layer of dip and clean it up a bit? No experience with glossifier yet so hoping someone with experience can chime in.

So I did some research last night.

The glossifier won't reconstitute the top layer, it will add a layer. So if you've got a textured surface to begin with, your glossifier isn't even going to work. How it will work with some of the "streaking" from poor overlap, I still don't know.

Next week I'm going to hit the roof with another layer of black. The plan is to hit it with a real thick, heavy coat to try and even things out a little more and get some of the problem areas a little more consistent.

The dip thinner is going to be a worst case scenario in case this doesn't work/there's still a few spots that need touch ups.

The glossifier layer is really finicky in that if the dip layers aren't perfect, the glossifier won't work/look right.

Fingers crossed I can get this done properly!

I use glossifier on my interior trim pieces. It's just more layers of plastidip but clear. It will have the same texture as regular dip too, so don't think it'll give you glassy (not glossy) surface like a gloss vinyl.

3M has a paint defender spray. From the pictures and demo's it looks like it'd give you a nice smooth surface. May want to look into doing that
