So I came to notice that my 2011 M3 lock on my hatchdoor is rusting. Still works fine with no problems so far. I rustproof my car at Krown every year but not entirely sure if these areas get lubed up. I'm thinking maybe I should get something at Canadian tire and do it myself.

Anyone have any ideas to take care of this before it causes a problem? If not, I might even take it to a shop or dealer to have it looked at.

Krown'ing doesn't goop this area. Go to Canadian Tire (or Krown themselves) and buy the can of "Rust Check". It's more or less the same stuff they spray on your car in a more convenient form.

I have been going to Krown for over 5 years now and my 2010 hatch latch has always been lubed/sprayed and looking brand new. Curious which Krown location you have been going to dbear

morganc Thanks. I'll look into it.

sarujo Yeah I've been Krowning mine for the last 4 years. First 2 years was done at the lakeshore location. Since my move to the Markham area a couple of years ago, I've gone twice so far up at that Krown location. Friendly people and they seem to do a good job other than this hatch lock rusting. Then again, I don't really know when it began as I only noticed it earlier this year. My third appointment is coming up at the end of this month so I'll ask and see what they can do to slow it down.
