Any good aftermarket pedals?

Has anyone put on some good aftermarket pedals? When my shoes get wet, they\\\'re making squeaky noise with the stock pedals, which is annoying :sarc . I didn\\\'t experienced this with the cars I\\\'ve driven before, thus i guess my shoes are not a big issue here. Winter is not far away and shoes will be wet most of the time. I wanna get rid of this squeaky noise soon.

Yes Bluntman, I checked that thread already. But nobody has an actual after-use review of any of the pedals discussed there, yet.

From what I remember from the club meets, no one has installed a set of pedals, just a dead pedal. IMO, universal fit pedals suck, either the direct replacement or the ones that have to be drilled into place (Momo, Sparco) are the better choices. As far as feel goes, it\'s a personal preference, some people like the rubber \"nubs\" while some people like a smoother finish. As stated in the other thread, I\'m still waiting for the OE pedal covers from Mazda which are on order from MazdaUSA, but I will report back as soon as I get them.

What ever you do, don\'t Armour-All your pedals to get rid of the squeaking. Is it the rubber pad that is causing the squeaking or the up and down action of the pedal? Mine are quiet.

I think the squeaking comes from the friction between my shoe and the clutch when I clutch. Maybe that\'s why I didn\'t realize it from my previous cars \'coz they were mainly 2-pedal.

I\'ve read threads about pedals from other forum. I haven\'t found anyone who has very positive of their pedals, either aftermarket or OE. They\'re either too flimsy or hard to install or they make the gas and brake pedals too close together (manual).

I once had the brake pedal (Razo) fall off while driving in my previous car. I hated how they \"attached\" to the stock pedal, some sort of dual strapping mechanical fastener. Of course, being universal, the brake pedal was too close to the accelerator which meant that it wasn\'t squarely attached to the stock pedal so I used some double sided tape...what a mess! I am hoping for much better result with the OE set.

I got the sparco \"grip\" pedals. Check online somewhere to see what they\'re like, but they\'re basically aluminium pedals with rubber inserts where they can\'t put all the rubber inserts in cuz the backing/rod of the pedals blocks part of the holes the inserts are meant to go thru. All in all its great when my feet are dry but when wet, they slip quite a bit, not good. I kinda realised after that maybe getting the ones with a sand paper-like surface would be best for dry and wet conditions, but I haven\'t tried so prolly better to ask someone with those. But I suggest not to get the ones with teeny little rubber inserts. I suppose the ones with row\'s of rubber would be better than mine too. but then again didn\'t we get rubber at first?

I received the MOMO match titanium pedals for my birthday but I\'m having a helluva time even TRYING to drill into the stock accelerator pedal. What kinda drill should I be using??? The brake is going to be the hardest since the metal arm behind the plate is angled diagonally. I\'m not sure I can even get any holes for the brake pedal... :(

A drill bit with a carbide tip should work. Many drill bits are meant for softer material like wood.

Yeah I kinda thought so too while holding the drill against our plastic accelerator pedal for like 5 mins straight and all I have is a dimple on it. :(

Kia has a set of pedals including dead pedal for its Spectra 5 (pic1 (http://www.kia.ca/accessories.asp?lang=en&plate=spectra5) & pic2 (http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=8433&page_numb er=2)) I think they\'re snap-on and wonder how they fit our 3s? :sarc The dead pedal looks big enough to cover the foot-rest area.

I wouldn\'t want to try fitting those on, they look nice (there\'s even a matching dead pedal), but they are fitted for the Kia pedals. You\'ll either have to pull out your grinder to your welding equipment.

Is the big one on the right the dead pedal? If it\'s the gas pedal, it looks too big to fit the tiny space there :sarc
