Hey guys. I'm just looking for some feedback on the Bose sound system in the Mazda 3's. This is the second amplifier I've had go, the first was compliments of a mechanic jamming his tool into the auxiliary port under the arm rest. The result was a blown amplifier that they refused to take any responsibility for.
Now the replacement is going less then a year later after an unfortunate encounter with a deer left my front end and both sides needing some extensive repairs. All the headlight/foglights and both electric mirrors were replaced.
Since the repairs the amplifier is once again following the same pattern as the first, inconsistent cutting in and out which is generally getting more and more frequent. The first time it eventually just completely failed and began making a rapid popping sound even when the car was turned off until you pull the fuse. I've asked a number of mechanics (other then the one that blew the first amp) and they generally have the opinion in their experience with Bose systems that they are touchy to say the least. A friend of mine that first convinced me Mazda was the way to go started experiencing similar issues with his system after changing a simple tail light and since then was hearing inconsistent feedback as well. He simply took that as an excuse to change out the entire sound system to something 'not' Bose.
Who else has had these issues and were you able to resolve them? I can't seem to find the forum threads I was looking at earlier when this first happened.
Cheers.
