2008 Mazda 3 CD Changer CD IN issue

My 6 CD changer in my mazda 3 is so finicky. It doesn't take CD's, there's no "check CD" issue and its not like it takes the CD and spits it back out.... i go hit the load button, it says CD IN but when i go to put the CD in it goes in like a like a centimeter then back out.
I will take CDs eventually after trying and trying, sometimes after 3 or 10 tries it'll take the CD and it plays just fine.

My uncle said he had the same problem with the CD changer in his RX8.

Any ideas?

i had the same issue in my 04 3. just had to try several times over and over and hope it took. Then on hot days, the CD would sometimes just stop reading/playing. Eventually got frustrated and went aftermarket so i could plug in a flash drive. much more convenient
