My friend works here and two of my friends who are car ppl (?) go here, plus MajesticBlueN also knows these guys, what a flippin small world;

Gilman Auto Service
Contact: Raymond
1940 Ellesmere Road
Scarborough

So far quoted $40 but that was before I mentioned the stock pipe needs to be cut.

EDIT: The map is not accurate!!! Gilman is right beside the plaza that is beside the TD Bank at Bellamy.

EDIT: Toronto Prelude Club is affilliated with Gilman so maybe we could eventually make them our prime parts installer?

Holy cow! How heavy is that box? I hope you tipped the delivery person. As others have said in your other thread...don\'t install it just yet. What\'s the rush?

I am still part of the TPC and I\'ve dealt with Ray on many occations and he has saved me hundreds of dollars on the work that a Honda delaership would have charged me. I have also gone to numerous track days with him and his lude. Awesome guy to deal with. His prices are fair and I have yet to hear of a customer who isn\'t satisfied with his service. I would recommend him to anyone.

Rush cuz the money has been charged for over a month to my card. :)

Went to Gilman, Ray cut the stock pipe at the rear axle and removed the entire stock exhaust (cat, resonator, muffler). Spent about 45 mins to do everything, appears to be his first time swapping exhaust on a Mazda3.

The Draxas exhaust was a breeze for him to install. As stated over in the Draxas thread on M3F, the clamps that came with the package were indeed too small. They were able to wrap a clamp around the tip but they could not thread any bold on it. After a few mins of trying, he just welded the tip on.

The sound is sweet!!!!!! Not too loud, not high pitched at all. It\'s a bit lower than stock and of course, louder. I\'d guess louder by 30% to 40%. Just my guess. You will hear it at Meet #7. Wejidas may finally be attending... with a few surprises. :D

I\'m at a friend\'s house right now (yes, they laughed at me to immediately use their computer to log on here and post this msg)... exhaust was nice and comfortable on the 15 min drive I had on the highway.

I will post the photos taken from Gilman during install, later on tonight when I get back home.

Indeed I was smiling on the way leaving Gilman. There were like three other customers there and were all commenting on the 3. When I flicked on the HID\'s... ooooooooooooh :) I couldn\'t stop smiling when leaving and heading back home... awesome exhaust!!! The other ppl were quite surprised at the cost (I said a bit over $600).

Good show Warren!! Looks factory fit!! The only thing I don\'t like about the Draxas system is that it\'s held together by clamps. I guess they did that in case you need to replace certain pieces. They should\'ve come out with a one piece all welded together.

Nice piece!! Too bad the stock one needed to be cut ... The initial quote for installation was $40. So how much you paid eventually? Also, does this mod void the factory warranty?
Pls post some sound clips ;)

bubba; actually, the tip isn\'t that big. it is approx 3.5\" in diameter. The pipes are 2.5\".

FLIPSPEED; yup the known \"problem\" with this system; the clamps. Ray had to hammer the clamp onto the tip but then couldn\'t thread the bolt properly, thus the welding of the tip onto the end pipe. I believe they clamped the rersonator end to the muffler end... meaning I\'ll have to check the underbody once in a while to make sure nothing\'s loose. :(

chaser; Honestly I don\'t see how this can void any warranties but depending which dealership you go for service, it may be no problem at all. I ended up paying $50 since he needed to cut and weld. If it was a straight remove and attach, it would have been $40. :)

MazdaTree; butt dyno says yes, it feels a bit smoother in between shifts. Not sure if it\'s noticeable in the sound clips tho. :p

bluntman; correct!

majic; thx! it is a bit easier to shift smoothly with the exhaust :)

You just got me itching to do my exhaust.

Anyone know any good exhaust shops in the GTA that does custom work? Would it be possible to remove the stock muffler with custom piping and fit a universal HKS muffler at the back? Will it sound ricey and how much will it cost? The muffler can be ordered for about US$220...not sure about the piping and custom work though.

thanks

Hmm, if that\'s the sound in the cabin, forget it, it\'s a little too intrusive for my tastes.

to me when you were at speed it sounded like you heard the road noise more than the exhaust until you pinned it... which to me sounds like the right combination of loud pedal and driveability! but I guess we\'ll have to see at meet 7 :)

Drove to work this morning and noticed quite a few people (I\'d say along the same generation as myself, ie. between 18 and 30) looking at me as I drove by, and still looking when I checked my mirrors... nice nice... just look, don\'t touch, okay? :)

Combination of the noise plus the blinding blue bling, I mean blaze, in their eyes as I zoom zoom by... LOL

autoexe; it feels really nice accelerating with the exhaust! With my music on I can still hear the low end growling. A little aggressive which I like (of the car!!!). Not sure about local stuff, sorry. I heard Brullen shut down. Maybe talk to Troy (check our Meet #6 group photo) since he has a custom exhaust system.

bluntman; Just a note that with my digicam video recorder, the sound is actually a bit quieter than in reality, so yes, you might not enjoy the full-time growls.

Airman Kangaroo Jack; sorry had to say \"Kangaroo\" :) Looks like I\'ll be giving a few ppl short cruises in my car on Nov 27th? heheh

ASD Axela got Brullen to do his exhaust. It looks like a pretty clean install. You can try Auto Express Muffler he does Speedtech\'s systems. Just bring Sam the muffler and he\'ll do the piping for you. His number is 416-293-5518 Sam. If you want someone closer then there\'s Lim at Optional Performance. His shop is just off of Bayview on Greenlane in Thornhill his number 905-889-9860 Lim. I\'ve dealt with both of these guys for years and I\'ve never had any problems with these 2 shops.
