Hi,

I found someone selling a 2012 mazda oem roof rack and was wondering if it would fit on my 2008 mazda 3 hatch.

The part number for it is: Mazda 3 BL (BDA1-V4-701 and BBP8-V4-701). I tried calling the dealership to ask about the fit onto my 2008 hatch but they were unsure.

Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Not a 100% sure but I tired buying 2008 roof racks for my 2010 Mazda 3 and they were off by just a few cm's. So logically I think the 2012 racks for you 2008 would be to big on the roof line.

ryan2.3 may be able to shed some light here.

The roof mount points are different between Gen 1 and Gen 2. What i had to do was buy a "universal" one that allowed adjust-ability so i can put it on both my Gen1 and Gen2 hatch

did a quick search. if this is OEM, it looks like it may be able to swap between Gen 1 and 2 assuming that bar on top is adjustable

if it looks like this, it won't fit.

if someone is selling it, just ask to try and install it. Roof rack should be able to install within 10 minutes, so just test it

I believe that they would be, but you would need different foot kits for them

the foots would be the same as they mount in the same way to the roof. what matters would be how the bar is attached because the mount widths are different

. if its fixed length, ie. no overhang on the sides, it won't work (the second pic in my post above)

but if it allows for adjustability in the length, it would be fine.
i have this set (http://www.amazon.com/59714-Removable-Anchor-Extended-Hyundai/dp/B008HBM0B6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage) and because of the way the bar mounts to the feet, it allows it to fit the small roof of a mazda2 as well as both gen1 and gen2 3's. I don't know about gen3 but if the mount point is the same kind, i dont' see why it wouldnt fit
