quite frnakly...i never did like the look of the drop in subwoofer box\'s that most people slap in their vehicles...just..pop in a box...done...close trunk! unfortunately i am one of those people that have a sub box in my trunk...just s slap in drop in replacement. Im not too familiar with shops and everything liek that, but before i even thought about putting in a sub and all that, i really wanted something clean where the sub and amp are on display in teh trunk...but to have it not just an ugly box....being a custom trunk install....

as i mentioned, im not too familiar with shops and such...and i would be a sitting duck if i were to go into one and ask for what i want....because i have not the slightest clue how much even a chap install would be...i don\'t know the price ranges for these things...

so if anyone coul be of help, as to pointing me in the direction maybe....preferrably somewhat local to me (kitchener)....of any places that may do a basic trunk installl? i still want to keep as much trunk space as possible...(i am a daily driver). Do they have to keep your car in teh shop till they get it completed usually, be it for measurements and fittments and so on...? so..any help about anything on this would be greatly appreciated.....pardon the n00b in me on this topic....

I was going to mention that midnightfxgt bought a custom molded sub box that another Mazda3 owner constructed out of fiberglass. The box was molded into the cavity that currently houses the jack and it took an 8\" sub. Unfortunately, he stopped making those, as well as the 10\" compatible variant...and, from the last I heard, only designed them for a hatchback.

I myself am opting for the removable sub box. I know what you\'re saying bubba, but at the same time being a bit *ahem* older, still need the functionality of my trunk. If I have an empty trunk, sub box is in, if I need the room, it\'s out! I\'m even going to add quick releases so I don\'t need to mess around with screwdrivers whenever I need to take it out.

What you need to do is make it sexy so that when the trunk is open it doesn\'t look like the run of the mill carpetted box is sitting in there. Spruce it up, airbrush a mural on it like the side of a 70\'s van or something.... The sky\'s the limit! :D

Go for something like this!

If you\'re a DIYer, build the box out of fiberglass yourself! It would be a fun project that would only take a day or two to do in summer. There are plenty of \"how-to\'s\" on the web about this type of thing. I think its the route that I\'ll probably go when I have a chance and some $ lying around.

Can you point me to some how-to\'s? with mazda3forums, all the other how-tos im finding are for something around the house. Hoping to try this route first and build one into the trunk wall of my sedan.
