First up, the 2004 Mazda 3. the crash looks bad, and sounds bad, but O\'Neill says this car actually does its job.

O\'Neill: “The structure holds together very well. The safety cage is intact.â€ÂÂ

The sophisticated crash dummy\'s readings show no major injuries and O\'Neill is pleased.

O\'Neill: “This is as good as you can get.â€ÂÂ

The Mazda 3 earns the best rating, a good, plus the Institute\'s top honor, a best pick.

Why are the seats with lumbar support rated worse than the regular seats for a rear-end collission? Kinda strange if you ask me....

I feel sorry for those who onw a Kia Spectra (http://www.iihs.org/vehicle_ratings/ce/html/0417.htm).

Just a summary:

Dummy movement wasn’t well controlled. The dummy\'s head bottomed out the airbag and hit the steering wheel. During rebound, the dummy\'s head moved partway out the open side window and hit the B-pillar.

and

High head accelerations occurred when the dummy\'s head hit both the steering wheel through the airbag and the B-pillar, indicating the possibility of head injuries. Forces on the neck, chest, and both tibias indicate the possibility of neck, chest, and lower leg injuries.

Adding insult to injury, I heard on the news this morning, there was a car fire on the 401. Didn’t affect my route, but they said a KIA Spectra exploded; I guess it was just too cold for that piece of crap.

It\'s funny how a car bursts into flames when its too cold and I am not talking just about the Kia. There were many car fires over the past two days. One would think that they would have trouble bringing the heat but it seems they do a pretty good job of it.:D :D
