2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
Hi all,
For those of you with the '17 GT, what is your average fuel economy looking like? I recently test drove the '17 Civic with the 1.5L turbo, and was pleasantly surprised by the pickup offered, while also being very fuel efficient. Going by published numbers for city (which is about 90% of my driving) its 28MPG (8.4L/100KM) for the M3 vs 36MPG (6.5L/100KM) for the Civic - that seems massive to me.
Just wondering what real world looks like for the M3? I get about 11L/100KM in my 2009 M3 GS. (2.0L engine)
I know the ride of the Civic is a bit more smooth than sporty (in the sedan at least), but it still put a smile on my face.
Thoughts?

Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
Living in the GTA i the city/highway factor is slanted more to city for me too and i average 7.3L/100km so far in mine. Compared to my 2011 Hyundai that would average 7.9L/100km at best, i'm happy plus the mazda has quite a bit more power than my hyundai did.
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
Thanks, @shawnmcw. That is somewhat better than I expected based on the 'official' rating. How heavy is your foot? :)
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
Had the car for roughly 3 months doing about 8.2L/100KM
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
Thanks @Stupidducky - what was the mix of your driving city/highway?
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
I'm a commuter, ~ 150km / day +/-. My former 2010 2.5 GT 5AT averaged 8.3-8.5 l/100 km.
My 2017 3 GT 2.5 6AT w/ iEloop has been averaging 6.8L like clockwork on the same commute.
This is mixed driving, but mostly hwy - some of which is stop & go.
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
Thanks, @studum. Looks like the iEloop really does improve the fuel economy.
I'm really curious to see if 2018 brings any further improvement. Rumors from a few months ago said Mazda was working on a HCCI engine which offered another 30% more fuel economy!
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
hehe, that depends on the day and area. I usually drive it in normal mode and put it in sport or manual mode only when i want to get "playful" though which helps
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
I drove ~40-60km a day in richmond hill/markham. manual 2017 GT sedan i average ~7.5L/100km. In my previous 2010 GT HB, averaged 9.5L/100KM. I drive very gas friendly.
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
my 2017 GT AT is getting a very sad 9.9L/100kms, all city driving, but I really expected better. Anyone else getting this?
This is worse then my 2007 GS got.
I'm only at 5,500kms, but I really don't buy the whole 'new engine' and 'break-in' periods. Engines are built to such high precision specs these days, there really can't be any need to break an engine in.

Guess no one else is experiencing this? It's only gotten worse for me. Now at 13L/100 and the guy at the Mazda Service told me that it was the cold weather and my driving style :bang He even asked me if I was sure I had filled the tank all the way up and if I let the car sit and idle for a long time? :flaming
My last tank got me a whopping 254kms and the low gas light came on! seriously, wtf. Did I get a lemon? or is this normal for the 2.5L skyactiv?

That's not right!
I got a 2017 GT and not sure what I get but I'm sure it's between 500 and 600km.

Something is not adding up....are you driving around in sport mode all the time?
I'm getting 9.3/100 ('15 GT)

Nope, in fact I've been trying to drive like a granny just to see if I can get better mileage. It's come down a bit, but I'm still at 11.4L/100
Haven't even looked at the sport button, let alone turned it on.
Service guy was no help. Told me if something was wrong, it would throw a code. They didn't even look at it. I'm frustrated to say the least.
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
I'm getting 7.5L/100km average.
Mostly all highway

I'm frustrated for you!
Might be worth taking it to one of our sponsor dealerships to get a another opinion
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
I get around 9-11L/100km. tank lasts around 400-500 in the winter. in the summer its closer to 500-600kms. but my driving is like 80% city and 20% highway (rush hour traffic though). Brampton to Downtown Toronto.
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
I was considering getting a 2018 mazda3 2.5L to replace the one I have it looks like it gets almost the same gas mileage as my old junky mzr 2.5 from what you people are saying. I get 400-500km for a tank of about $50 with mixed driving city/highway... I also don't drive gentle.
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
17 GT Sport, I get around 9-10l/100 km, city.
Ave 7.2l/100km highway. Best I did was 6.1l/100km
Re: 2017 GT Fuel Economy feedback
reset the average and see how it goes first also in the screen on the dash you can see for each drive what your average is
