Yes it depends on what standard and optional equipment the RS comes with. I havent looked at it closely. The VW options list is ridiculous. Was just comparing base prices. I still think the RS will...

Yes you can...but usually people dont bother with rebuilding these turbos. I have seen a few rebuilt K04s go bad after the rebuild.
More likely they replace with a used K04 (~$250 USD) or go BT.

Raise idle, thicker oil, and banjo bolt. These are all short term solutions. You will eventually have to replace the turbo.

Yeah 1200 rpms is a bit high. Should be fine for the short term though. I havent heard of any negative impacts of the restrictor bolt. Install it and see, if anything your turbo is on its last legs...
Is your idle rev at 900 -950rpm? Also using rotella? Those 2 along with the banjo bolt is what's recommended mostly
get accessport manager off cobb website and connect it to the computer via supplied USB cord. You should be able to download the logs to your computer.
Yeah reload the map and see...as for the hesitation post a log and we can review it.
