Call around to some wreckers: The two I use are standard auto parts and north queen auto parts. $500 doesn't sound crazy high but it also doesn't sound anything close to a great deal.

The Mazdaspeed 3 knob is the same as our 07's but there's a little metal ring and a 6spd pattern. I really do like my TWM one!
