Default Brake Options for the Mazda 3

Folks ... In my quest to find Brake Pads / Rotors for AutoCross (Solo-2 and lapping), I came to the conclusion that there was not alot of options (At least by Honda Standards) sooo to keep everything straight I put together this list for myself ...and I thought I would share it.

Keep in mind this is NOT the definitive list nor is it 100% accurate ...So this is where you guys come in ...if you notice a mistake, or know of other options, can you post it up and I will update this list.

The Part numbers are as accurate as I could make them HOWEVER there may be typo\'s / mistakes so PLEASE do not order by these numbers alone ...please confirm the application if and when you place an order

I broke down the Brake pad options into four ROUGH types of pad to help determine what type of pad you might want. I do suggest that you reasearch the pads further to determine the compound that you might need/want. Each type of pad comes with its own set of positives and negatives, and comprimises.

Added PBR/Axis Front and Rear Pads (three flavours of each) to the list

The Ultimates/Ceramics were VERY good when I used them on my Civic .... Similar to the Hawk HP+ compound ...

    Update

I just talked to my Wholesale contact about Grandsport pads ... they are now avaiable in GS-3, GS-4, GS-5, GS-6(rear)

The GS-5 should perform as well as Hawk HP+ and the GS-3 Should perform as well as the Hawk Blues ... Very good pads for the money

I have ordered a set of front GS-5\'s and a Set of Gs-3\'s for track days. I will be ordering a set of the Either the GS-6\'s or PBR Ceramic for the rears to match the front setup.

    Cheers

I have a set of Hawk HP+ on order. The EBC Greens I have now are adequate for street driving but are rather susceptible to fading on the track, maybe even more so than the stock pads.

I\'ll get the part numbers when they come in. Good info btw.

Hmmm .... I did not think that the Hawks came in a HP+ ...only the HPS. When did they become available ????

I\'m wasn\'t aware of it either, but apparently their Blue compound is also available. I\'ll update as soon as they arrive (ordered through Tires23).

Any ideas when the Brembo discs will start shipping and where they will be available?

Nope: I checked with the Canadian Importer/Distributor and they do not know as of yet ... I suspect by the end the year (2006) as it took almost a year for the Integra Type \"R\" rotors to be relesed in North America after they were realeased in Europe ...

If you are refering to the Pads .... well the price is all over the place ... and the prices will vary by location / region

I were to guesstamate the approximate price ranges this is what they would be ... but the only way to know is to get a quote from a retailer or do some searching arround the web

    OE Replacement $30-$75 a set
    Street Performance $75-125 a set
High Performance Street / Track / HDPE $100-150 a set
    Track $150 +

Rear paqds will generally be a bit cheaper .... but not allwyas

Brembo Rotors - I have not heard anything yet

Both the 2.0 and 2.3L cars use same pad ... just the rotors differ (11\" vs 11.8\")

I need someone to make sure if the 2.0 and the 2.3 share the same pads. I\'m just about to order a set of front and rear Endless brake pads.

One more question. Since brembo don\'t ship the 3 disc yet. Will any other mazda cars have the same size disc that we can use for the 3? ie. MPV, Mazda 6, protege, ?

Not that I am aware of ... one would need access to the Mazda parts look up to cross reference the rotors

EBC Red stuff is also now available for the 3:

    Front: DP31524

nsnmotorsports.com has them for $63.10 and $53.10 (USD), respectively.
