Default Flame On - Tips on searching

Risking being flamed by Majic, Red, Psivic and more can someone please direct me to the \"How to use the search function\" page. arc

Can I use boolean logic when searching to narrow down results?

I was sure there was a thread on how to search properly but I can\'t find it anymore...arc

    Thanks.......flame on :p

    you called?

here\'s the link.. i know that is not what you had in mind.. :p

i\'m sure you already know the following but maybe this will help the newbs?

    1) the easiest way to search is to use as many UNIQUE terms as possible and ensure to check Match all terms radio button.. it would help if you remember some particular word you or someone else used in a specific post

instead of brake pad you may try ebc green change or ebc hawk or even break pad lol

    2) use singular instead of plural.. you\'ll get more matches but some people don\'t spell properly and might forget the \'s\' at the end

    3) use partial words ebc green vs ebc greenstuff you never know if people will make it into one word or 2

    4) if you know who said it, utilize that knowledge and input the username, it\'ll narrow your search THAT much

    5) use \'message search\' instead of \'subject search\'.. the latter is not helpful since a lot of subjects are so generic like \"look inside\" but the better posters will have more searchable subjects

    6) finally.. try to find the subforum the thread would belong in.. it\'ll narrow down the searches.. most are in their proper spots but we do tend to go off topic and have varied info in different subforums

anyone else? add your 2 cents

boolean logic didn\'t help as much .. because there are the 2 raio buttons you can select either:

    Match all terms - AND
    Match any terms - OR

so no need to type in brake & ebc.. brake ebc will suffice as long as you check Match all terms

^ Wow, I think Majic summed it all up. The part where majic says to search for broken English like \"break pad\" is too funny. But its a reality here on TM3.
