    Default Upgrading to a CD/Mp3

I have a cd player currently do you know how much the dealer would charge approximately to upgrade to a CD / MP3 player?

Just wondering, I would consider doing it if it was a 300 upgrade. (not including labour of course)

    Did you look on mazda.ca?
    Did you call your dealership?
    Did you search?

The answers are all over this site.

using the search engine on this site brings up too many unrealted \"junk\" entries. but i searched Mazda.CA apparently the only option I have is the 6CD changer that\'s $891.00 a bit steep if you ask me.

More searching on this board would have helped you realize that Joe Montano (a.k.a. FLIPSPEED) from Mazda of Toronto is the guy to talk to about any genuine Mazda parts.

Give Joe a call or message.

maybe you should learn HOW to search (which has been covered as well) arc

also AFAIK the \'04-\'05 require a different deck/player than the \'06+ models.. IIRC the single cd/mp3 player was in the $550 range (OEM) but i think that one fit the older models only.. in any case there\'s always ebay

I think he meant UPGRADE his existing CD Playing to a MP3 CD player, not REPLACING it. In most cases when we say to buy a MP3 Player for $550ish + labour, we buy the whole new unit and install it then keep the original CD Player aside, but he probably tried to say when he\'s dealing with buying the new car, he wanted to trade his CD unit and pay upgrade to the MP3 unit, so that way he might be paying less instead of paying the whole price upfront and got keep of the useless CD unit.

he has the player already.. the dealer is VERY unlikely to upgrade b/c they will be stuck with a CD player that they won\'t be able to sell as NEW.. he\'ll have to buy a new one and do what most of us have done: either sell the current one or wait till selling the car and put cd player back in the car and sell the MP3 player.. in case he wants to know if an upgrade was possible (and i tried upgrading my tires to something better than the RS-Ass and they refused) call a dealer and find out.. better yet.. call a couple.. :p

I hope you sent him your email address, as he can only send one PM a day.

I would just call Mazda of Toronto and ask for him.

forget the factory mp3, get a mp3 cd changer. i got a 12 disc JVC cd/mp3 changer for ~250 from future shop. like it says, 12 cd\'s. i\'ve got over 1,000 songs in my trrunk while keeping everything else stock. you do get a little \'noise\' from it being fm modulated, but when it\'s loud you really can\'t hear it. only between songs.

Thanks...but no thanks. Some people prefer the stock factory look and from your pictures, it doesn\'t look very factory at all. But to each his own. Great set up tho anyways.

other than what\'s in the trunk, just close the ashtray and you can\'t see anything. the deck is the same, still use steering wheel controls

    Get a PHATBOX.
I love it and its 20 GIG of music and runs off your factory deck.
The artist/song title/album/playlist is announced; everything is in folders and you can sort through a lot of different criterias (playlist, genre, album, artist etc).
And steering wheel controls are enabled!

Sweeet MK...so did you end up getting the Artist Name, Song Title and etc to work with the stock HU LCD?

How much did everything cost you in the end?

Cheaper than you think!!! After everything said and done shipping and duty it was around $300
Here are some crappy pics from my W600 1.3MP phone cam:

and like majic said; it doesnt display the name/title/artist on the stock lcd but rather announces it. I shot a short video of this again.. on my W600 phone so its not great quality:
