Default Today is a sad day.....

Well i was doing so good until today. I lost control today on the Thruway here in Buffalo, making an evasive manuever at 65 mph. Took the car sideways down the highway and went left straight into an SUV sending him into the guard rail. I thought the front end was completely ripped off and totaled, but i lucked out. No one was hurt besides whiplash and at first glance only the whole front end was damaged. The hood was bent, the front bumper, grills, headlights, radiator, etc. need to be replaced, but i don\'t believe the frame or engine was harmed. Considerably less damage than i had expected, but still bad and off the road for a while. The one thing i worry about is the stock hids having to be replaced, they are going to be expensive. I mean insurance is going to cover it and a rental car, but the focus sedan they gave me has already made me sick. It is so uncomfortable from what i am used to, but it is a vehicle and thats the way i look at it. Anyways the big thing was that the air bags never went off, i was wondering if anyone knew if this is common. Do you have to hit a certain hardness to set them off, because i didn\'t hit that hard, or is this some malfunction i should look into. Don\'t get me wrong i\'m happy they didn\'t go off for repair reasons, but it is scary that they didn\'t react. So that about wraps up my exciting day, i\'m exhausted. Good night.

    Whats important nobody got hurt...

So whats the reason you lost control of your vehicle?? are you speeding? or something was wrong with your car?? (since you post your thread under this topic)...

With regards with the airbags not activating, I understand they will only deploy in front/offset impact/crash....do you have some pics to give us an idea ?

Sorry to hear about your accident. Get some rest, let the adrenaline subside and get yourself checked out by a doctor. My sister didnt when she had her accident and she is right now seeing a psychotherapist because she is having nightmares and seeing things that arent there. Good luck and take care.

The important part is that you\'re okay.

Depending on where the impact was determines wether or not the airbag deploys.

Try 1 sensor located on the front hood latch.

Unless you have a U.S. spec vehicle with side airbags then you have 3.

I hit a Pathfinder within 6 days of getting my car, and my airbags didn\'t deploy either.. Good thing actually the reapir shoots up in cost and you get a broken nose for your trouble.

    Damn you photobucket.....

I also hear if your airbag deploys, your insurance goes up if they find out, probably because of the repairs.

Thanks for the support everyone. In regards to problems with the three and how it happened it\'s tough to say. I think it was just the way i turned too tight for highway speeds. The car just swung out at the back end, didn\'t have enough time to use the brakes because i was too busy steering it back. Just not enough time to react to everything. Lucky though that it didn\'t flip considering i was completely sideways at about 60 mph or so. That could of been bad. Anyways i\'m just still trying to get over not having my baby for a while, man i love that car.....

Well good news today. I stopped by the collision center and they already have the car back together and painted. It just needs a new map sensor and harness, because it broke during the crash and they just found it now. They also need to adjust some gaps and stuff, but man it\'s looking good and i\'m getting excited. I can\'t wait to get my baby back.....

It\'s great to have it back. I just rotated the tires from front to back and it drives great. One of the tires may be out of balance because i get a slight vibration on the highway. Other than that it drives excellent and i have a smile back on my face.....

With that kind of damage why even take it to a dealer.....isn\'t it a write-off?

Right front crushed maybe they think the car can be fixed? It\'s up to the adjuster.
