What comes with my new Mazda3?

3 years / UNLIMITED km Comprehensive Warranty
5 years / UNLIMITED km Power Train Warranty

Mazda3, Mazda3 Sport, Mazda5, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-5, CX-9, MX-5

The basic warranty on Mazda vehicles covers all parts found to be factory defective for 36 Months or UNLIMITED km. Additional warranties cover Powertrain components for a period of 5 years or UNLIMITED km, body sheet metal perforation for 7 years and unlimited mileage and specific emission control components for up to 8 years or 128,000 km.

Factors Beyond the Manufacturers Control

*Misuse of the Mazda Vehicle such as driving over curbs, overloading, racing, snowplowingarc , etc. (Proper usage is described in your owners manual.)
*Accidents such as collision, fire, theft, riot, etc.
*Alteration, modification, tampering, etc.
*If the vehicle has been classified a total loss and/or sold for salvage purposes or branded for any other reasons.
*Damage or surface corrosion from the environment such as: Acid rain, airborne fallout (chemicals, tree sap, etc.), salt, road hazards, hail, wind storm, lightning, floods and other natural disasters.
*Cosmetic conditions or surface corrosion from stone chips or scratches in the paint.
*Removal of the vehicle from the warranty-applicable market for which it was produced.

Damage Due to Lack of Maintenance or the Use of Wrong Fuel, Oil or Lubricants

*Lack of proper maintenance as described in your Owners Manual. (Failure to properly maintain your vehicle can result in your warranty being voided either in whole or in part.)
*Improper maintenance, the use of other than specified fuel, oil or lubricants recommended in your Owners Manual.

Normal Deterioration

*Normal wear, tear or deterioration such as discoloration, fading, deformation, blur, etc.
*Surface corrosion on any part other than the body sheet metal panels forming the exterior appearance of a Mazda Vehicle.

What Extended Warranties are available through Mazda?

NC48UN - 48 months / UNLIMITED km- $925.00
NC60UN - 60 months / UNLIMITED km- $1725.00
NC6120 - 72 months / 120,000 km - $1830.00
NC6160 - 72 months / 160,000 km - $1930.00
NC7160 - 84 months / 160,000 km - $2430.00
NC7160 - 84 months / 160,000 km - $2525.00

COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE is the highest level of protection available and is similar to the new vehicle limited warranty. Components that are not covered are considered maintenance and are listed below.

What is Not Covered under M.A.P. Warranty?

What is not covered: Of course, no protection program can cover every possible circumstance. The following items, which are considered a maintenance repair, are not covered by Mazda Added Protection plans: Glass, lenses, sealed beams, light bulbs, trim, mouldings, bright metal, upholstery, Miata soft-top fabric, paint , body, exhaust system (including catalytic converter), brake pads, brake shoes , brake rotors and drums, clutch linings, shock absorbers, McPherson struts, steering rack boots, drive axle boots, outer tie rod ends, ball joints, batteries, spark plugs, spark plug wire sets, distributor rotor, hoses, tires, side view mirrors, belts, external shift linkage, fuses, wiper blades, adjustments, water leaks, wheel balancing wheel alignment, accessories (except Dealer installed Mazda air conditioning kits).

What is the eligibility for purchasing M.A.P. Warranty?

*MAP Add Coverage plans can be purchased prior to the expiration of New Vehicle 36/80, 42/100 and 48/100 plans only.
*Mazda new vehicles must be registered and normally operated in Canada.
*MAP is not available for vehicles used as taxi, courier/delivery services, police/security services, rental vehicles, snow removal or emergency services.
*Vehicles leased/sold for use in competition/racing or off-road activities are not eligible for MAP.
*MAP Add Coverage plans may be purchased by the original or subsequent owners.

Can I wait to purchase my Extended Warranty?

During the first 12 months or 20,000km (whichever come first) of vehicle service, you may choose to purchase any of the Comprehensive plans listed above for whatever the price is at the time of purchase.

As of today the prices listed above are accurate but subject to change without notice

After the 12 months, or 20,000km and before 36 months or 80,000km things change..

1) The NC4810 is no longer available
2) To the above listed price a Late Registration Fee is charged based on mileage. Add $5.00 per 1000km on the odometer at time of purchase.

After the 36 months or 80,000km you have no option to purchase Comprehensive Warranty.

Fully Transferable
Mazda Added Protection is fully transferable to future owners.

Alternate Transportation Allowance
Mazda Canada will contribute to the cost of a rental vehicle (upto $35 per day) while your vehicle is at a Mazda Dealer for covered repairs.

No change since July 2007.

Which is actually bad news... it is due for a jump as soon as the 2010s land I expect it all to change.

Yes, it cover the OEM Moonroof and it's motor, but not an aftermarket install.

Recommended service schedule.
It was discussed that if you don't follow this schedule, you may be denied warranty.

To my understanding, the word recommended does not mean mandatory. also, the service people never said that to me when i didn't do some of these items.

Did the prices change? I remember years ago when I bought my MAP, the price for the comprehensive was significantly MORE than the Major Component warranty. Accordingly, I only bought the Major Component Warranty.

Pricing has not changed since July 07..

I do expect an increase very soon, but no idea when or how much.

So I have a question for some folks in the business?

I found out my car (114k currently) has MAP purchased by the previous owner which is good up until 2011 or 160k.

The person at Mazda told me they will transfer it over to my name, however, I don't have service records from any work that was previously done to it.
I was told the car WAS serviced at Avante Mazda, but not sure for how long or what service was done there.

Is there anyone who can educate me on A) how I can get my hands on some service records.
B) what kind of warranty work would require me to show what types of documentation?

I do have a Lubrico warranty I purchased with the car as I didn't know anything about the available MAP warranty, so I have that one too. Just figure it never hurts!

You need to get into a Mazda dealer and pay the $35 to transfer the warranty into your name, Mazda will then send you info on your warranty coverage.
As far as finding out what services have been done, you are sol, privacy act comes into effect there.

I too would like to know what this covers exactly. I just signed paperwork lastnight for a 2009 Mazda3 GX and am thinking of taking the 6yr/160,000 extended coverage.

I was told that the power train also gets extended to the same coverage, but is rust covered for that term also?

Easier to just check out what it does not cover.. If it isn't there... it is covered.

The "What is covered" would be a small encyclopedia.

As for the rust.. the car comes with a 5yr perforation warranty, just get a rust protection package on it and make sure you do the inspections to up hold the warranty on it.

when i bought my car it had 97k on it..would it have been worth the money to get added warranty or is it too late?

it depends on km and time left.. You can only add Comprehensive while you still have Comprehensive.. so at 97k... you wouldn't qualify for MAP.
