Default FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH THE FLIP KEY

....... what is the point of the red LED light when you press button?
Is there a reason for it otherwise if not... its totally useless.

    Thought of the day.

I remember a vague post about someone saying that it will indicate when the battery is low. But I think that's BS. It's just for show.

I have flip key with the light as well. I remember reading on M3F that the light is an indicator of the key's battery power. Which begs the question....how do you open the key to get at the battery? I really don't believe it to be true.

By the way MAZDA KITTEN hits like a girl.

Opening it the first time is a PITA. After that, it gets easier. Pop open the key. In the slot there is a little tab. You have to push down on it with a small pointy object to release the key half from the remote half. The rest is easy.

Seems to me that this would be a useful feature in general, just to give an indication that the button is being pushed or held.

On your cars, don't the passenger doors open if you hold the button down? Having the light lit will indicate that the button is being pressed, right?

This might sound trivial, and my issues may come from the craptastic nature of the GM keyless entry system, but on my car you have to press the button twice to open both doors. Once for the driver's door, then a second time for the rest of them. This would be fine if something happened every time I thought I pressed the button, but either the fob or the receiver is complete garbage so half the time, I'll press the button twice and one or both doors will still be locked. Same goes for popping the trunk. Sometimes I really have to mash the button to make it work. If a little light came on, at least I'd know the fob had acknowledged that I was pressing a button.

    Stupid fobs.

Really? Hmm... someone I know recently got a car where you just hold the button down and the rest of the doors open.

Seems to me it would be nicer to walk toward the car just holding the button (and seeing the light to know you're pressing it hard enough) rather than my current method of walking toward the car repeatedly mashing the button as hard as I can with the hopes that when my wife and I get there, both doors will be open.

    hmmm....

I just tested my flip-key and if I hold the button down the front doors unlock and then the rear/hatch unlocks. The same process hold's true if I press the button to lock. I just hold it down long enough and everything locks up and the "ass-daisy" of a horn lets me know it's done. Before this post I treated my flip-key as if it was like the original fob. Pressing twice to lock and unlock.
