Installing any CAI will not void your warranty UNLESS it is the direct result of a repair you need (i.e. water gets in the engine via the CAI....you're screwed)

This is a tricky subject regarding warranty and many dealers will tell you that any modification voids the warranty. i.e. "engine blows up but you have aftermarket rims on the car". This may sound a little crazy, but as stated above, the aftermarket part MUST cause the failure.
One of the best resources we have as enthusiasts is SEMA. Many think that their work is only for the U.S., but they have helped us out dramatically here in Canada fighting some archaic laws that would ruin the aftermarket industry for everyone..
For their read on warranties and how it affects aftermarket cars take a look at this link, (yes it's U.S., based but many of these same points have been argued here and won)

p.s. one of my favourite lines is about how aftermarket parts aren't as good as the factory. (in some cases this is true) It's interesting that the 'factory' doesn't make most of these parts, but outside companies do. The same companies making 'factory' parts for your car, make the aftermarket parts.
p.s.s. don't every get into this debate with a 'factory' global parts manager, they'll bore you with the company line. Yes, the factory has to provide warranties, but many of the aftermarket companies do the same. This debate will never end, both sides have their views and that's what makes this so much fun!
Hey guys, I just called my Mazda dealer to ask about the Mazdaspeed CAI. And the dealer says when I install a Mazdaspeed CAI or Clutch it will void my ENGINE's WARRANTY!!! But if I install an Exhaust or Suspension it wouldn't.
Can someone clarify this for me?
Are my dealer's mechanic being an a$$ or what?
Your answer is post #3...
If there is problems due to the CAI, it is up to the shop to decide if warranty is void even though it was installed by them.
oh damn...
So they could say anything they want basically.
It's funny, they say an MS intake and MS clutch would void it.
But the MS exhaust and MS suspension won't...
Google this, magnuson-moss warranty act. It should clarify everything. If your dealer gives you grief, bring it up. If they give you more problems, just say thank-you anyways and contact the manufacturer directly explain the problems and mention the act. Hope it helps. I researched it thoroughly before installing SRI on my brand new GT.
