Bubba's thread on random album recommendations led me to this.
Anyone know cool stories on how bands/groups go their names?

Sloan
One of the member's friend had a job in a factory and tend to work very slow. The boss gave him the nick name "slow one" which when called sounded like "Sloan."

Nickelback
The lead singer worked in a coffee shop (Starbucks?) and the pricing of the commonly ordered item required him to often give back a nickel as change, hence the name “Nickelback.”

Puddle of Mud
They were recording an album (the studio may have been in someone’s house/basement) and flooding led to the studio being filled with puddles of mud.
