To MazdaSpeed3 or not to MazdaSpeed3?

That is the question!

Well, I just can't make up my mind on picking up a Sport3 GT w/ Luxury Package or a MazdaSpeed3.
It's not as much the price, as I know the MazdaSpeed3 is worth every penny more they're asking for it. But it's my daily-beater, and have to leave it unattended in a large parking lot during the day when I'm at work. (Several thefts have occured over the past year). I'm just afraid it'd be a target for theft in that lot, and may not be as reliable in the long run after several years. (It's a sad world that you can't buy a nice car b/c your afraid it's gonna get stolen)!

If anyone has any opinions, please post up. It may help me make a decision, which has to be made by tomorrow!

I think I would go speed3. Perhaps consider an after market alarm though..

I would go with the speed3, i think you will be much happier in the long run. as for the thefts, i would suggest the same as SFW or just find a really nice car to park beside and hopefully they'll go for the other one...lol

There is only 83 of each colour for the second half of 07 production run; I think the speed will holds its value well and it is a hoot to drive. Where you spend a few K less and get a regular 3 you're still not going to be happy if it gets dinged, thats the same for both cars so in which case i say get the speed if you can.

Honestly, if people are looking to steal cars there are much more expensive cars all over the place and on the other end of the scale, there are much easier cars to steal. I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

One of the things I like about my Speed3 is that I'm no longer concerned about people targetting it for theft. My Sunfire stood out and said "Look at me! Probably something to steal here!" while the 3 is just stock.

IMO, most thieves wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a standard 3 and a Speed 3. They take what is convenient. The other side of that is, even if it is stolen thats what insurance is for! Get what you like and not dwell on the off chance that something will happen to it.

BTW...Go For The Speed3 (Bias opinion as I have one and LOVE IT)

How expensive a car is is hardly an indicator of it's theft-worthiness. A look at the most stolen cars in Canada for 2006:

1. 2000 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
2. 1999 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
3. 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX/WRX STi 4-door AWD
4. 1999 Acura Integra 2-door
5. 1994 Honda Civic Si 2-door Hatchback
6. 1998 Acura Integra 2-door
7. 1993 Dodge Shadow Convertible
8. 1996 Honda Civic Si 2-door Hatchback
9. 2000 Audi TT Quattro 2-door Coupe

Most of those cars cost less than the Mazdaspeed3.

Of course like you pointed out, these cars are just plain easy to steal and that's why they steal them.

Yeah, that's the other end of the spectrum. The easy to steal cars are obviously the most stolen.

I figure that the people who are able to steal the newer cars with all the newer technology in them will go after the luxury cars and the like.

still would go for ms6 cuz it's sedan

I'd go for the Speed3, not in the red though, you can see that thing from a mile away, get it in white or black and it won't cause too much attention to itself....hehehe attention whore red :d

Also like the previously mentioned you could pick up the MS6, cheaper on insurance, actually pay less on payments because of the high interest rate on the MS3 (not sure how it is now, but it was the case a couple of months ago), plus you score AWD.
