    Default Window trim getting rusted...

    Hey guys,

Okay, I have a 2004 Mazda 3 GT with 56k on it and I also have the extended warranty. My trim on the right rear passenger side window is rusting. I called the dealership I usually goto (Westowne) and the guy told that they cannot do anything because that falls under "derosion". I told him I that I have "bumper to bumper" extended warranty but he still says that nothing can be done unless I pay. I am very upset by this and will not be going back to that dealership regardless of what the outcome will/should be.

Can anybody help me out with this? Am I right to where they should replace this peice? or are they right in the "bumper to bumper" warranty I was sold on is a crock of poo?

    Let me know please.

    Thanx in advance.

    According to the www.mazda.ca website:

"Perforation: Covers perforated panels (rust through) due to defects in material or workmanship under normal use." The basic Mazda warranty covers you for 60 months for 1998-2006 B-series cars. Maybe TheBiz could confirm this.

happened to me on my old Protege 5...
had extended warranty too...unfortunately it doesn't cover...
DWM says if only my car was under 80 000km, they would of replace
the rusted trim + labour @ no cost.....

Wow I guess I was lucky because this happened to me and Ontario Mazda didnt even question me they replaced both sides without any issues

Now I am out of warranty so crap... I have to pay for it next time (and it will happen again..)

You can maybe try to touch it up yourself? Sand it down and use one of those 'back to black' sprays or whatever

    Hey guys,

Well I finally got the peice replaced and to my surprise they didnt charge me...They told me it would be 90 for labor and like 30 for peice or something like that so they ordered it for me and on Friday, I got it changed.

I noticed after on the bill that they didnt charge me for it (labor or the peice).

    I hope this helps.

I removed my side mirrors.. and discovered rust! Especially near the window trim. I cleaned it up and covered it with touch-up paint. Car only has 25,000km and is roughly 2 years and a bit old.

I took some pics... i dunno if mazda would cover it since I dismantled a piece of my car.

So if the rust is hidden it doesnt count?

F that. Thats a scary thought knowing a 2 year old car is rusting. I would've emailed pics to Mazda Canada already.
