If you buy a Hiboost kit, I am sure I could get a buddy or two to come with me and help for a day. Wouldnt cost ya much at all

ull need more than pizza to entice imho!
beer???? i will see how much money i have at that moment, may be i'll try to squeeze in some cash. how does that sound???
Boris dont you have a automatic?? save the money for the new transmission your going to need in a couple months!
so how much did the whole project cost?? (aside from the blown motor)
just curious the price of the HiBoost Kit, install and fluids flushed??
sounds like you are really enjoying it so far
ok nevermind, answered my own question and very impressed not a bad price at all...
http://www.hiboost.com/TURBOKIT.htm
about a 50% HP gain on stock motor, not too shabby
john didnt buy the kit trew hiboost, he got it second hand so he didnt pay 4grand plus tax, much lower. But ill let him disclose the exact price if he wishs
^^ I figured he bought it second-hand
Not sure this would even rival the Mazdaspeed 3 though as the numbers just don't seem to add up... 263HP to the crank vs. 225WHP?
not sure if there is much of a difference here in terms of overall performance, but considering i don't want to shell out another 10-15G's to buy the "speed" I think the HiBoost Kit is a much better/cost-effective option
Rival a Mazdaspeed3? It wont rival it, it will slaughter it
The Hiboost kit I bought is the one the dyno numbers are from. At 91octane fuel and 8PSI this exact kit hit 260WHP with e Hi flow cat and 2.5" Trubendz Exhaust. Assuming a rough estimate of 18% parasitic loss, that puts you at 305ish HP at the crank. A fair bit more than a MS3. hehe. With my race pipe, I hope to hit 265-270WHP. But I need to still tune the kit (previous owner never did, so even rich it hit HIGH numbers).
I paid $3150USD shipped for the kit. Shipping is over $200, so keep that in mind also when ordering. From there I did:
- Royal Purple 15W40 Synthetic Oil Change w/ K&N Filter ($45ish)
- Redline Lightweight Shockproof Tranny Fluid ($45ish)
- Boost Gauge, Oil Pressure Gauge, sandwich plate, and 3 gauge pod (generic cheapie) ($120ish shipped)
- AEM Wideband 02 used ($200 cash)
- Misc connectors, zipties etc etc etc ($50ish?)
I dont think there was much else that I bought after that.
I gotta get off my ass and fix this post all up
all i can say is:
holy snap.
this is now my first mod im doing after my lease is up (and i buy out the car)
do u have to use better gas now??
(91... is that the most expensive one?)
hmmm....
wat happens if u run the cheap stuff??
may or may not run, but will seriously damage the engine for sure.
BTW, by the time u buy out ur car u may have too much milage on it, u may want to rebuib the engine first before u go turbo.

The car will run on 87 fuel fine, but when your boosting is when it matters. The higher the octane, the more protection you have against detonation. This will kill a motor QUICK... so just run the 91, and play it safe It can be found everywhere anyways.
No need to rebuild either. I have 107K KMs on mine when I boosted. As long as the motor is in good running shape and you have kept up on maintenance properly, you should be fine. Hell, my Probe had over 200K KMs when I boosted it.... no issues.
John
sweet. i'll probably have MAYBE 60,000km's on my car. if that.
and uh, wats detonation??
Google Detonation..... its what will destroy your motor in seconds... if you are going to spend thousands to boost, spend a few bucks per fill-up on the good gas
Good info on detonation:

Thanks for the update John. Much appreciated. I guess with the extras (Hi Flow cat, exhaust) it really makes a difference. I was only referring to the 225WHP the HiBoost claims on their website (seemed low). You definately have me interested now though. Cant wait to see it in person, hopefully before i cut-off some body parts to get one myself *lol*
Yeah, the base kit with the restrictive stock exhaust will get you probably a bit over 225WHP, which is online with what the MS3 puts out stock.
When running boost, exhaust plays a HUGE role. A gain of 25WHP from a stock system to a more open system is not unheard of in the FI world.
