Default Insurance Renewal Time ... oh **** yeah

Is it pretty much a fruitless attempt to even bother negotiating with the broker on renewal premium?

With TD Meloche Monnex and first year of insurance cost $2100. Second year, auto-renewed at $2300. Now, third year auto-renewal is $2500!!!

****ing POS... there has been nothing new on my record in these three years! NOTHING. What gives...

I've read about some members having their premiums lowered (hell $50 down is better than $200 up!) recently. What's up with TDMM? I know our cars' rating has been dropped quite a bit but wtf ... damn insurance industry playing us like puppets. If I have them insure my to-be condo, they'll discount my auto insurance by 10% ... whoop-dee-****ing-doo!

I'm with TDMM. I pay less than $2k/yr.

All you can really do is shop around. Find out what everyone else is offering you.

Hey man, I am on the same boat as you.
    Here was there reasoning.
I have that policy that pays me back full value for the car of it is stole or whatnot. And the gap between the original value and the depreciation grows every year, hence the increase in rates.
    make sense?

Try RBC. I pay 1300 a year and I think we are around the same age. I was with TD and they booked me at $2500 and with RBC it was less than 1/2. Then last year it went up a bit. Now I am just over 1/2 of what TD was. Still wicked deal.

    Worth a call.

My bro was with pilot paying almost 3000 per year, he switched to bel-air direct and saved about $800 per year. He's 21 and is driving an 02 civic. I pay $1900 per year with pilot on my 06 GT (and that's with a claim and minor infraction on my record from 3 years ago). Shop around, that's what I'll be doing when my record clears.

try belairdirect they are so cheap. TDMM is a rip off .. i pay 185 a month as of this month with a 0 dollar deductible .. not a bad price for being 22 with 3 tickets on my record. TD wont even insure me. Thats also full coverage etc as required under finance.

Threads like this always tend to turn into threads like this

But to comment on the OP: When my insurance went up a few bucks (only about $20/year) and when I inquired they said that it's a "general rate increase." You should just call them and ask why your rate increased.

I was paying $74/month for my old 2000 Z24. When I bought my 20007 Mazda 3 Sport GT, TDMM bumped me up to $94/month. No biggie. But two months later, I got my renewal for the upcoming year. They dropped me to $83/month now.

The rates for the car dropped causing the insurance rates to go for people renewing now.

    I was paying 125/month for:

    0 ded
2 year full replacement value if car is written off
1 free at fault accident that wont affect premiums. (i know some ppl dont believe in this I know brokers though and its not a gimmick)

now everything the same paying 140/month. I couldve gone with PC financial for 120/month but I was happy with Bel-air how they handled my not at fault accident...

Didn't intend to go anywhere near a "insurance cost per month" thread. But I did reply in the above linked thread over a year ago.

That is exactly what we pay for the our 3GT sport for the same coverage at TDMM

Why our 2005 Odyssey jumped $250 a year is beyond me. Atleast the Mustang stayed the same

Also jacked the house insurance up 22% due to the way they calculate the rebuilding costs but that was an entire thread altogether.

Maybe TDMM is starting to take us all for granted. I've only been with them for 18 now with no claims. RBC? Hmmmmm.

Called around a few places this morning. Surprising they're all higher than what I'm renewing at with my present TDMM! Fark.

I ended up calling TDMM to inquire about my renewal. Explanation given was that the car's rating went up, yet again. I made the statement that I had friends with the same car living in the same region (717) who's renewal rates actually went down. The rep couldn't answer. Blah.

Waiting one call back on an online quote I did with a broker. Let's see where that'll go.

On an off note, at least next month my car will finally be 100% MINE! Woohoo! Save that money only to put towards the insurance... jeez.

Does your university alumni have any deals with auto insurance companies? If so, try calling them for a quote too.
Johnson's insurance promotes through my alumni so they offer special treatment.
