Hello Everyone!
We have a large club, and it is time that we use our large club to make a difference. We have a great oppurtunity to do some good and to have some fun doing it.
The Plan
We will form 2 teams, Hatches vs. Sedans. Both teams will collect as much food as they can between now and the Holiday Dinner (early December). The team that collects more food, will recieve thier holiday dinner for free, at the expense of the other team.
Why?
Last Year nearly 1,000,000 people made use of the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank. Last year they surveyed 1800 people who made use of the the food bank services. The results are alarming.
20% of Children and 40% of Adults who use the service go hungry at least once a week
Average household income of families who use the services, less than $1000/month
75% of income used to pay rent (anything above 50% is an increased risk for homelesness)
35% of food bank clients are children
30% of parents who use services have to decrease theirs children's meal portions on a regular basis
45% of food bank clients are not born in Canada
35% of food bank clients have been in Canada for less than 4 years.
More than 50% of food bank clients have a disability or serious illness.
Clearly, we have the oppurtunity to be part of the solution to a large problem the city is having. Even if you do not plan to attend the holiday dinner, you are encouraged and asked to make a donation at a meet, PM team a team member to see how you can help
What we need to Collect
-Non-perishable food items (canned products, condiments, soup mixies, crackers . .)
-Money (they can buy twice as much food for the same cost that we would spend in a supermarket because they buy food in bulk)

Raising Food
Food drives are an excellent source of food for the agencies we serve.
Even if your main goal is to raise funds, giving food helps connect people to
the mission of feeding hungry people and allows everyone the opportunity
to participate.
