Mazda Australia revealed the Mazda3 MPS Extreme at the Sydney Motor Show today, and it's a pretty compelling package. ECU reprogramming results in boosted mumbers of 281 horsepower and 313 lb-ft of torque. The fun doesn't end there either, as the Extreme gets a 2-inch exhaust (2 inch?) and a suspension tuned by Murray Cote, who does the same for Australian race and rally cars. 19" BBS wheels with red MPS center caps fill out the fender cutouts, and the car itself is finished in red paint with black stripes and a black roof. It looks mean both in pictures and on paper, and it's just for our friends Down Under.

I love those rims. I'd gladly have a set of bbs rims like that. However I'd want a blue stripe instead to match my interior.

Yeah I'm not too crazy about the stripes, or the feder accent pieces, and the interior is a little fanboyish..but still very nice. The rim package and black roof, and the rear of the wing painted black? Neat.
Factory painted calipers are also pretty cool.

Oh, I don't normally care about the little things like chrome rings around side markers.. but I really like those black ones!

Hmmm, taking a closer look....not a fan of the "extreme" badge, or the fender flares. The wheels are beautiful but the red center cap ain't my cup of tea.

It does look carbon grey in some angles.. black in others. Might be a decal, or perhaps the same paint/material as on the stripes as they look the same colour.

OH by the way Mazdaspeed, do you have pics of your car? You've got my interest?
