Just watched someone get towed

Coming home putting along at 60km/h on finch at around 1am. Coming up to the 404, on the bridge at a light I see a few opp cruisers with light flashing and a black civic coupe already latched on to a tow truck.

Pulled up to the light, looked and saw a young chinese guy and his girlfriend standing in the cold (6 degrees celcius) no jackets, and looking scared and generally not amused. Officer just getting out of his car (already on tow truck) filling out some papers.

needless to say, I shook my head... and continued on my way when the light went green.

P.S. also passed a police cruiser hiding at a stop sign before this.. didn't even see it until I was moving again, needless to say, I did a proper stop.

Just wanted to share. That is all.

This is the first time I'm hearing about someone getting impounded for being accused of street racing. I wonder if this will hit the press? It's good that those Subaru guys are talking about it. Maybe we'll get to hear how it plays out.

The reality is that we've been debating this issue for a while now. Since day one there have been a number of heated debates and numerous threads on TSC about this topic. A number of members even managed to get perma-banned, in groups at a time lol. Then the club went down because someone decided to DDoS the !@#$ out of the site. Then everyone started downtalking the TSC on another very popular forum NASIOC.com. The thread there grew faster than a STi geos 0-60. Only a few weeks ago the site came back online.

Yes.. It has been a very rough time on TSC ever since that law has passed now.

I bet if you saw someone zoom by you on the highway going 150km/h, only to see him pulled over by OPP at the next exit you would laugh too.

Chuckie assumed this was the case with the honda civic. He has acknowledged that his assumption was incorrect and retracted his comment.

What makes you think this isn't happening? I have yet to see a single breakdown on the types of vehicles being impounded. If it was a bunch of modified Civics, I'm sure that would be in the media.

I suspect there's a whole lot of pissed off rich people right now missing their bimmers and benzes because they figured they weren't the target demographic for this law. Of course, without info, that's all just speculation too.

Anyone know if the cops are required to at least give the speeder/racer a ride home or do they just go "Well, it's been nice, but I gotta go..." and they leave you on the side of the road..

Just for everyone's information I was driving back to London on Sunday, saw at least 4 tow trucks on the 407 with at least 3 OPP's scoping it out. This was just before the exit to the airport. I saw a Audi A6 pulled over, not sure if it was getting towed though.
But they're pretty serious with this new law.

I wouldn't laugh if a speeder got caught as 99% of people get caught for speeding. There is a speed trap outside of my work and every time I come outside, they have somebody new. I always think of putting a sign up of speed trap ahead. I would only laugh if they pulled over somebody for doing 90 in the fast lane!
