    Default Have a question.

I just got myself a real beater which is a 99 Protege SE. It is literally a beater!
Theres a problem with the tranny, it kicks out of 4th gear, very hard to shift into gear, and very very very hard to move it. You have to really REV it up for it to slowly pick up.
Forget about going uphill since its virtually impossible.

So now the question is, what seems to be the problem. Someone said something about a slave something something, and another was saying the tranny needs to go.
Funny enough, the clutch feels pretty stiff.

Did i mention it smells like a dead animal in the engine area.

    Any ideas?

What other generations share the same part as the 99 protege se? Its the most basic of basics. no power options at all, except for brakes and steering.

    Someone please chime in here.

    Cheers.

P.S: my mazda 3 is in hibernation for the next 6-7 months.
