Call?
Well Joe @ MOT just revised the part number in this thread so I'm just going by what he said.

Thanks, but I wonder if MoT manages to do it for 0$ because of the group discount they give us on parts and labour, or if its because like Joe said, It should be completely covered under warranty....and if so and I am assuming Joe is right, then all dealerships should be doing it for free. But if the sensor is on backorder, I guess we won't know for awhile.

.
All dealerships are not doing for free. I called Avante and talked to Ted the Service Manager. He said that the problem is Mazda Canada has not said been crystal clear about whether the labour and OEM shock sensor should be free of charge. I told him from what I read, that all GT models are supposed to have it installed at no charge. He says he will get down to the bottom of this with Mazda Canada. I've booked my appointment for a day in March. As of right now, Ted said they haven't installed any OEM shock sensors for anyone because of the back order. However the door fix has been installed on customers' cars already.
So it goes back to Mazda Canada...

I spoke to Al at Mississauga Mazda yesterday, he said shock sensor installed to GT is at no charge (warranty) and will be done when they receive sensors REGARDLESS of March 1, which he says is only applicable to aftermarket alarms, towards which the $100 credit will be given.
Maybe dealers aren't all clear on Mazda Canada's intention or maybe some are greedy?
I know the plates are installed for free... but the OEM Shock sensor is the question.
Damn you photobucket.....
Yup if your vehicle is affected by this then the sensor is no charge.
Great for all you guys. Too bad Mazda wasn't spreading the deal out to those who might want to add a shock sensor. Ah well.
Wait. Im confused. So in summary if you got the letter and you have a GT then the door plate and shock sensor is FREE.
But only if the car is a pre-Jan 2007 build does that deal for the no-charge shock sensor apply? That doesn't seem to make much sense.
I'm assuming my car, a May 2007 build, has the exact same reinforcement plate (just from the factory instead of installed at the dealer), but for some reason I, and everyone else with a late build, have to pay for the shock sensor that everyone else is entitled to for no charge?
I know that decision probably comes from Mazda Canada, but it doesn't seem right!
Hopefully my interpretation is wrong on this and I actually can get the sensor - I may be moving out to Vancouver soon and I'm worried that the problem seems to be worse out West.
Don't hassel the Hoff
You are completely correct. I have contacted Mazda Canada about this and they already told me that they are only giving those who need the plate install done the shock sensor upgrade for free. I agree that this makes no sense what so ever since everyone should be included in this deal. Nothing you can do about it though. You could always just wire it up on your own.
I might give Mazda Canada a call in the morning too, maybe if they receive a number of calls they'll come to their senses.
Personally, I don't see the reason why, if they have determined that the post-reinforcement car requires a shock sensor as a warranty issue, that shouldn't apply across the board. Why is my car any less vulnerable because it was built 6 months later?
I would wire it myself (thanks for posting the directions, cwp_sedan!), but frankly I'm worried about splicing wires on a 6 month-old car and screwing things up. I'd feel much more comfortable if the dealer, who knows these things far better than me, did the install like Mazda Canada has permitted them to do for everyone else.
