Default How do you park your Mazda?

    Here's the story,
I want to know how you guys park your cars? Like in public areas, at home, at the office. Would you pay extra for security?

How do you avoid coming back to your car with a big dent from someone's door, shopping cart, theft, etc.

Do you take 2 parking spaces when your unsure of an area? Would you park far so that no one is too close to you car? Do you avoid parallel parking in general? Do you stay far away from curbs? Do you use hadicap parking spots (usually larger in width)? Or do you simply don't care?

I am sure some of you had experiences that made you change your ways to park. So lets see where this goes...

Try to park away from people, even though I'm sure someone will end up parking beside you anyway, just because. Never take 2 parking spaces. That's just asking for trouble.

Never park at the end or beginning of a row. Too much turning traffic near by to clip you and or good chances you'll do some curb rash coming out.

Never do the double parking spot thing. It's incosiderate and two, it invites trouble to your car from those that think you're selfish.

I try to protect as many sides of my car as possible...stay as straight as possible even if that means fixing my parking a few times and looking like a noob driver .

Unfortunately I park at finch, so I do my best =\

I usually park in any spot. If available I'll park beside a more maintained/expensive car.

Theres another side to that though as you will get the people that are too wealthy to care.

I personally park as far away as I possibly can even if it means walking a fair distance, and here's why.

It depends on the parking lot.
If the parking lot has islands on the end of each row, I'll try to grab that last spot so all i have to worry about is just one side.
I always reverse though when I park. It makes it safer when I exit so I can see all the traffic from all angles.

At work, since a lot of the drivers there drive alone, I try to give their driver side more space, and park closer against a pole or a wall on the other side.

Speaking of parking... Anyone here with a white speed3 park at finch? You guys stole my regular parking spot by coming earlier, and I'd feel bad if I stole it back.. by going earlier lmao.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure there's another thread on this topic somewhere but...

I always park in the back in a corner as far away from everyone else as possible. There isn't a single door ding on my car *knock on wood* and I've had it for a year and 3/4.

I don't trust ANYONE. Even the expensive well kept cars.

I never take 2 spaces though. That's just ghey.

    Plus I get good exercise.

Always reversed in. Makes it easier to see oncoming traffic when getting out of the spot. Plus, it'll provide easier access to the engine bay for a battery change, or a boost or anything similar in the event the car doesn't start.

I always try to park as dead centre as possible. If it's not possible, I try to leave as much room on each side for myself and a passenger to open the door and exit freely. I usually avoid the first few rows of spots as they tend to have too much traffic.

And yeah, taking up two spots is uberghey, regardless of what car you drive... I don't care if it's a Veyron, you'll just end up looking more like a pompous ass. I don't feel sorry for them if they get keyed or dinged. You chose to be ignorant so you lost your sympathy card.

Never do this. Besides being inconsiderate you are just daring someone to do something to your car.

I prefer to park further out and away from as many cars as possible if I can. In the end you can't predict what people will do to your car. You have to come to terms with the fact that someone will ding your car at some point.

Yes and that includes you Skarbro!

When in a parking lot, I always park farther out where there are no other cars...I also look for a spot that I can pull straight through rather than back out. I avoid parallel parking, mostly because I've only done it once or twice before and I'd prefer to park regularly rather than looking like an idiot when I can't do it right. When I'm at my condo, I'm lucky because there usually aren't any other cars parked on either side of me...otherwise at home I have my own garage

it depends, at my office, I have no choice but to park wherever there is an open spot, parking is hard to come by at my place! When at a mall or plaza I park as far away as possible, makes finding the car easier as well as having less of a chance of some idiot hitting it. Sadly my car was free of dings till I got two of them a week after owning the car, of course it happened at my office I do my best to avoid other cars

i park far enough where people there are fewer people but not far enough that there's not enough foot traffic to make thieves stop for a few extra seconds to think about my car.

I always park at the farthest or middle area of a parking lot. I try to find the highest part of the parking lot so the carts roll away and not towards. If there is an island, I'll park next to it. I usually always try to back in, mainly because I know my back end can clear a curb so I can park further back, less chance of front end being swiped. Usually try to find a nicely upkept modified car as well to park near as they tend to care about cars. Usually never stock luxury cars, because the owners *usually* are rich enough to be careless. If all else fails, I'll go somewhere else.

Parking is a mystery itself.... You try to park as far as you can, and you will get those people who will park beside you to get avoided with pin dents... Case in point... Park beside a nice looking car eg.. BMW and you know that driver will not damage your car.

No matter where you want to park, its just the luck of the draw... You will get hit no matter what. Our car's dent easily, and unless you have a single spot theres always a high risk involved.

Thank G we have our dent repairer buddy...Without him we would be the MAZDA "Trident" LOL!!

I never do anything that stands out, if you are way out in the middle of no where or take two spots or park funny it seems you are asking for unwanted attention.

I try to park near cars that seem like they care more about their value, in the widdest possible space and near cars that don't have a child seat in the rear. I prefer to park near medians where i can get really close on one side and give myself a larger buffer on the side to minimize the risk of dings
