Default Bad purge valve - how bad would it be to keep driving?

    Hey guys,

I just got my first CEL last week (during that cold spell) and the dealer said it was due to a bad purge valve. They quoted $230 to change it.

Here's the thing: I'm returning the car next month (lease is up) and really don't want to spend the money to repair it. PLUS, I got the WearCare protection coverage, so I can just return it and let WearCare cover the repair.

So, how bad is it for my car to keep driving with a bad purge valve? The CEL went off by itself and has stayed off. The only thing different about the drive is a slightly rough idle.

    Thanks

If you can get away with it... great. If it starts stalling and giving you problems... You'll have to get it fixed. What is cheaper returning it a month early or paying the repair? If I recall I tried to extend the length before I had mine fixed. I think it started acting up again on my next gas fill. So fill it up and see if it starts acting up on ya.

if it stayed off, keep driving it and hope it doesnt come back on before you turn the car in.

    Cool thanks.

BTW, in case I need to repair it, is this a DIY job? Where can I buy this part from?

I'm claiming this under warranty, but the part hasn't come in yet.
I have to drive to waterloo and back tomorrow. Should I switch cars with my guardian?
