S techs or sportlines?

well im looking to drop my car within about a week. both springs give about the same drop. now i just want to know some pro/cons about each.

also should add im running 18" rims with 225/40 tires

depends on your offset. If you run more then 45+ offset then you'd be fine. But keep in mind that your car will be bouncing around. Since its so low, you're reducing your suspension travel and it'll blow your shocks faster then you expect.

well i ran sportlines and these rims on my last car, and didnt "blow" my shocks. the ride was stiff, but thats expected. and i have no idea the offset, not even sure how to find out lol. im really leaning towards the sportlines. just looking for a good place to buy them. any sponsors sell eibach?

doesn't matter too much if it is used.
save some money and get some relatively new ones

Well this car if you run sportlines, it'll be different from your old car. It'll be softer then stock and it'll ride like a boat after a few months. My old 3 was so slammed using sportlines, even my koni yellows had a hard time holding it. So do'nt get too confident with the stock shocks.

S-Techs would be my choice, they're stiffer and more sport oriented than the sportline which is meant mainly for looks.

I'd defintely go coilovers. I went thru 3 sets of springs before. h-techs, too soft, prokits not low enough, sportlines height is good but very very bad for the shocks. IF i seriously were to do it again... i'd go coilovers. OR if its just springs, i'd go with prokits. I rather run bigger rims to cover up the wheel gap

hmm interesting. i was looking at the tein basic coilovers. they are reasonably priced. and the adjustabel factor is a huge bonus

forgot to mention that you can't go too low with coilovers. The lower you go the less suspension travel you have and eventually you'll blow your shocks as well. Tein Basic is not much different from springs and shocks combo except you can adjust the desired height. Tein SS is also the same but with the added damper adjustability.

If you want to lower your car and not blow your shocks then you'll have to look at the ones thats got the seperate perch for height and damper. that way the lower you go, you're only adjusting and moving the springs and not with the shocks.

But sad to say that only autoexe makes those coilovers for the mazda 3 and they are $2500.

Another thing is that the basics isn't as low as the sportlines.

ya i know i see your thread . im waiting to see how much ihave to spend. and then iwill msg you about them. im still undecided about stechs or sportlines. i like the sportline drop more. but i hear better reviews about the stechs

I have prokits and I think they are just right for the car. I wouldn't mind alittle lower (summer only) but won't sacrifice damage/wear.

well i now have the money. leaning towards stechs. i dont think i need the rear camber kit with the stechs either. i have $800, but im not sure i want to spend ALL of it on suspension
