The prototype is awesome, very true to the original.

I'm more a fan of the potential for a production version. BMW needs to bring back a performance model. A car thats going to tap in to the more expensive grand touring class. Something more rare than every man's M3 or M5. The M6 was a step in the right direction. Now its time for a new 8-series or M1.

Why sell cars MORE expencive than the top 700 series... or the m6... already well into the 6 figure mark.. when u can make a car like the 128 and 135 and sell them like hot cakes and make more money .

Whens the last time you saw an M6? Probly not that often.. IF at all.... if they had a MORE expencive one the would sell what? one or two in a place like the GTA... its more for brand image than making money..... and the m6 is a pretty badass car ..

Exactly. They're already doing what you suggested. They've brought the one over and they're releasing the X6 as well as preparring to bring diesels to the model range in the fall. Now that they've got their model range covered its time for them to build a two door flagship.

Mercedes Benz has the SLR and the SL line.

Audi has the R8 and will soon have the S5 (S5 = M6)

BMW used to have great Grand Touring coupes back in the day. The original M1 was originally made with Lamborghini before they went broke and BMW had to steal back the prototypes. The 8-series was also an uber fast grand tourer. Its time BMW brings that history back. There is definitly a market for it.

M6 500hp 2 door v10...

R8 420hp 2 door v8..

I'd say they dont need to compare the "S5 (S5 = M6)" ... the M6 pretty much IS there supercar... its pretty underestimated..

And cars like the SLR live in car shows and united arab emerates for the most part at 1/2 a mill each.. so to say benz has the slr and audi has the r8.. talk about 4X the price for an slr vs r8...

I spotted an M6 in the winter time here in downtown ottawa. And they sell car like M6 for "special" people. BTW I heard BMW bought Rolls-Royce, so wander how would that work out.

Its very true that some of the comparisons don't stack up, but in true fashion the A5 = 6 so therefore the S5 = M6.

Although the M6 is faster than the R8 and is underestimated keep in mind there will soon be an RS8.

The SLR is a trailer queen, but my point being its their flagship two door.

I really want to see the M1 come back, only because it was so short lived originally. It never even got to race in the series it was built for because of rule changes.
