any idea why my 05' with only 110K is throwing out 3rd gear every time unless I Push hard on the shifter to keep it in? Every other gear woks perfectly fine except for third. Anybody else have similar problems?

Haven't had the same problem with my 3, but had it with one of my Honda's, it was caused by the syncros if I remember correctly! or was it a gear? ...anyways something could be shot!

it happend to me today. I was in 4th though and maybe i didn't push it in all the way but i put it in for like 1 sec and gased and it popped back to neutral. Then i smelled my clutch burn and it might just be me........ but i think my clutch is slipping a little. doh. I have to check it tough, i just think it was slipping cuz it felt different when i was going up my driveway
you are ablto tell what a slipping clutch is ver easily haha. when you push the gas you watch the rpms shoot up and your not moving any faster slightly let off the gas and reapply the gas and the car rpms go down and the car starts to accelarate slightly. I know this because my previous car had the problem and my 3 had a bad slipping clutch lol. Lets just say maybe i shouldnt have let so many people learn how to drive standard on my car
1991 Nissan Pathfinder - trade in, 2005 Mazda 3 GX ty grey - Write off, 2010 Mazda 3 GT E sedan CWP- trade in, 2010 Speed 3 w/tech CWP - Up for sale (soon), 2007 Mazda 3 GS silver- motor swapped in to 2009 MS3 CWP that had blown engine, 2002 BMW 330ci silver- new winter ride, 2005 BMW M3- new toy
well, it was just me..... thanks for the explaination dan. My car is fine, although i did find out my clutch is very soft and the point at which it engages is very high. Is everyone else's like that or just mine?
Soyabean, I've been dying to know if my clutch is the same as other Mazda 3's. if you want, i'll take you take my ride out around the block and you can tell me if its the same. The reason i ask, is because when i sit in a "new" mazda3 (i.e. in the showroom) the clutch feels much more smooth/effortless.
