Thumbs down Cracked Front Grill, Fog Light Fell In...

    Hey,

I'm new to the forums. I drive a 2008 Mazda 3 Sport GT and had a little incident recently..

Back in the winter the front grill of the car got cracked. I took it to the Mazda Toronto dealership and they quoted $2586.70 to repair the car. It wasn't much of a problem so I decided to hold off.

Recently I just noticed the left fog light was missing Upon closer inspection, the fog light has fallen into the car. It stills works, it's just not being held in place anymore.

I was just wondering what are my options because I don't have $2500 to fix the car at the moment. Is there a cheaper alternative to repair this damage?

    Here are the pictures:

What is your budget for repair? $1000? Have you tried going to an independent body shop and getting a quote for the repair?

I'm sure you should be able to Jerry rig something to hold the fog light back in there. I'd get under the car and remove the slpash shield to see what you can access from below.

Looks like you had a rough winter and that price quoted is probably about right as you need a new facia, grill and possible fog light housing or mounting bracket, prep time, paint and labour for installation.

Bring it over to my place and we'll see if we can repair some of that damage.

    PMs sent

The bumper replacement seems like an option but there aren't any solid pictures in that thread?

I'll try giving my dealership a call today and see what they say about the warranty or whatever

No warranty on that foglamp from the looks of it. I've seen this many times at the dealership where customers hit something breaking the foglamp bracket.

As for the bumper grille $33 and I'm pretty sure all you need is the foglamp bracket which is $17.

Nothing will be covered by warranty because the fog light fell out because of you accident.

If I bought a replacement bumper grille and foglamp bracket would it by easy to replace by myself or would I still need to take it to a repairshop and get them to fix it?

As for the replacement bumper, if I purchased one would it completely solve my issue of all the damages to the car?

    Thanks

It will be a lot easier if you did remove the bumper. You could also go on a set of ramps and just drop the splash shields to get access to the fogs and grille.
