"It is amazing how many drivers, even at the Formula One Level, think that the brakes are for slowing the car down." -- Mario Andretti
oh man, not bad, actually thats pretty good!
hold on a tick! thats just from the COBB SRI and AP?
Im amazed how little things like that can improve your car so much
It makes me want to get an MS3 now.![]()
An update. Not that I wasn't happy with my results from last year, but in preparation for this new season, i wanted to make sure the car's running in tip-top form. Went with a bunch of MS3's in Feb but didn't get any usable results we were looking for. All AP cars weren't agreeing with the dyno that day...whatever. With consideration from K&H Radiator, we ran again today. For those who were following the previous results, here's an update:
1st run (blue) - Cobb AP Stg 1+SF 1.03r - 273whp/293wtq![]()
great results FOBIO sign me up for the next dyno day.
u need a down pipe if you want to keep up this year![]()

MZ3 & MS3 Hood Stripes
In Stock: Clear, Tint, Charcoal and Yellow Xpel/Lamin-x Film
VERY impressive.I kept telling myself "I won't mod the car until warranty runs out..." but that's out the window now. Am I correct in assuming that the only diff between our two cars (At the time my car ran) is the AP and the intake? That's a 42 hp difference...
So how did they monitor your engine speed this time vs the last time? I couldn't show up on Sunday --- I was getting my windows tinted.
Edit: I just looked back and you mentioned you had a 2.5" inlet... Very nice! I know what I'm getting this summer![]()

same pick-up, nothing changed. there may have been grounding issues, but that's been sidelined due to the fact the cars ran fine STOCK. so at this point, there's no conclusion as to what exactly happened to everyone on that day.
That's kind of odd... In that case, I think they should offer all the AP members that ran that day with poor results some free runs... This implies that it's their equipment.
I tend to think we can get some longer term consideration from K&H rather than a couple of free dyno's...as Mario stated, our MS3 dyno day was unusual in the sense they spent more than the usual amount of time trying it out on each car.
Regardless, this puts to rest my concerns and I'm confident that K&H can read MY AP MS3. However, the tuner present did say he does see some signal breakup around 4000rpm.
Like I was telling Mat...I didn't need a dyno sheet...my goal wasn't to get a better dyno number...it was to find a patient, qualified, respectable and reasonable dyno, so that we can eventually self-tune with the AP and ATR at a good price. And from that perspective, I feel that I've made some headway...and I'm ready to move on beyond that one dyno day.
The variance between all the runs is whack.
2011 BMW M3
2015 VW Golf TDI
2013 Chev Silverado
The above info is prolly beyond your understanding of the current MS3 development.First blast with 1.03r...no problem...better results than expected. No hic-cups what-so-ever.
Second blast with 1.03 OTS...no problems...lower results as expected with new flashed map...whatever...
Third blast with 1.03 OTS...same results.
That's a good point... It was pretty cool that they allowed us to try different things and they were very patient with us. Even allowed one member to fix his ride on the dyno... Which is almost unheard of on a dyno day. Luckily all the other members were patient too
The self tune software is months out still isn't it?
did you just come into my thread to start a fight? lol
who says you (or any mechanical engineer undergraduate) don't know about cars...read the thread...it was a new map flash...car takes over 100km to adapt...
what do you care? if you can't read the thread and understand, that speaks volume about how UW is now training their engineers compared to when I went there. I put that in colour so your crayon-only eyes can read it.
I didn't know you were following MS3/Cobb AP map developments...but if you were, you'd know about map flashing...
GTFO unless you have something to contribute...nice rims btw, stick to looking good, rather than trying to look smarter by trying to gets others to come down to your level.

Flashing on the dyno is not a good idea. The car needs several key cycles and aprox 200 km of gentle driving to allow the fuel tables to calibrate properly. The power difference just after a flash compared to the next day for example is very noticable. This would explain the variences.
Btw, you confirmed what I suspected that the beta maps are stronger than the 103 ots maps. 280hp to the wheels translates to 322 hp to the crank, incredible, congrats!!
Maybe even longer... I re-flashed my car last Wednesday after picking it up from the body shop (Somebody backed up into my passenger door) and I was getting hesitation up until a few days ago. I must have put like 600 km on the car since Tuesday... If you guys shift aggressively does your engine hesitate or bog down at all if you release the clutch too quickly.. I've never experienced this with previous cars. Maybe the clutch on this car is insanely aggressive compared to what I'm used to.
I'm planning on trying different maps on the dyno next time, regardless...I was thinking CAI but now I'm thinking CAI + Inlet...
Flashing on the dyno is definitely not a good idea and Mario was kind enough to "drive" the car on the dyno for a few minutes to give it a fighting chance. Point was to prove that the beta map AND OTS map can be read on K&H's dyno without signal breakup or EMI issues. I did not expect the OTS map to do better. In fact butt dyno made the 1.03r feel better for sure, but now that I have the OTS map back on, I'll give it awhile before changing anything again.
