    Default Shock Sensor

On my 04 MZ3 there was a tsb that came out to add a shock sensor to the security system along wiht something added to the doors to prevent easy entry.

Does anyone know if this has been automatically incorporated into the 08.5 models? I don't want to be beat my new MS3 to see if it will go off.

I don't think you got the shock sensor. Your model year already had the door re-enforcement plate installed. The shock sensor or $200 rebate was given for people who had cars that needed the plate installed. Kinda like a, yeah, we screwed up, so here's something to make up for it.

as far as I recall the 08's+ didnt have the shock sensor due to reinforced door plates

.... also all it takes is a light hit with the bottom of your fist to the windshield.

No Mazda 3 comes with a shock sensor no matter what the year. It is an accessory upgrade. Some people who were eligible for the door plate recall were offered the shock sensor for free so in some cases those individuals will have them.

I added it on my own but I know for a fact that they do not come stock.

I just said in the post above that NO Mazda 3 comes with a shock sensor stock. To add to this, unless you have the stock OEM alarm and/or remote starter you wouldn't even have the option to have the shock sensor.

lol...what can you do. Imagine how silly you look.

It does the job for the stock alarm so unless I upgrade I'm happy with it.

I think it was one or the other. If you got the shock sensor I don't think you were eligible to get the rebate. Either way that does suck. Money back in your pocket is always nice.

Sorry to bring back an old thread.....

I have 2009 GS auto with stock alarm system and had the dealer installed the OEM remote starter. Does the OEM remote starter uses the same shock sensor module as the upgrade? I been trying to set off the alarm by slapping the windshield but it is not working. I checked the passenger side kick panel to see what setting is on the module but there is no module installed. Anyone here that has an OEM remote starter installed by the dealer and please confirm that a shock sensor module is installed on the the passenger side kick panel. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the shock sensor is built into the remote start unit. I think you can adjust the sensitivity on it but I'm not sure. I've never actually seen the remote start unit installed. I'm pretty sure it's not a seperate unit like the add-on one.

    Thanks for the info.

Do we have any resident Mazda technician here that can confirm it is built-in to the OEM remote starter unit and how to adjust the sensitivity on the shock sensor. It is mentioned on the remote starter manual that it is defaulted to OFF but I asked the dealer and confirmed it's ON but no way on setting off the alarm even with if I shake the care heavily. I just need more info before I complain again to the dealer.

It is a shock sensor not a motion sensor.. Hit your windshield, side widow or the side of your car and it should go off.

I have been trying slapping the windshield and side and back windows but no luck, the alarm won't go off. Also tried shaking the car side-to-side and still not working.

That means your not banging it hard enough lol.

But I think the best way is to just take it back to the dealer. If they confirmed that it's ON but it's not working, then there is clearly a problem. I see no harm in going back to the dealer and asking them to check this problem

Don't start slapping and banging on the glass. You don't want to break anything. Lift the wiper about 8" off of the windshield and let it go. The force should be enough to set it off. If it doesn't then it's either not set up for it or the setting is too low.

I'm not sure where the unit is installed but I would definitely just go back to where you had it installed and ask them to adjust it, or at least show you where the unit is so you can adjust it yourself. They may have installed it incorrectly as well and that may be why it's not working also.

^^^ Its also a matter of whether the dealer put it in properly or not. I had mine installed @ MoT, and even after a disgusting 3-day ordeal with them, it still doesn't work regardless of what setting the sensor is on, or how hard you hit the car.

I went out and got a compustar combo.

the remote start system does come with an alarm and shock sensor system... it is all built into one box... the remote start replaces the factory GT alarm system and thus it will no longer function... this means if the shock sensor addon was installed before, it is now useless... it is now all handled by the remote start

    Thanks TheMAN.

I have a GS and no previous shock sensor. How do you change the sensitivity on the shock sensor from the remote start module?
