Default quick question about tire size

hey, i searched but couldnt find anything, its messed, i figured i could find something

i found a set of protege rims (mp3 ones i believe?), they have 205/40r17 tires on them...

is the 40 series a bad looking tire for a non lowerd 3? the tires i have now are 45's, and when i had my cavalier, every 40 series looked bad on it, and the 45s looked good...

    any suggestions?! thanks

The issue isn't whether a 40 series looks okay or not... it depends on the rim diameter and tire width. for 205 width on 17 inch rims... just don't do it!

To start with that size your speedo will overread by 6.5%. Plus the gap will look insane.

225/40/R18 look good, and are the right diameter. 225/45R17 are also correct diameter

You can get away with 225/40R17 but the gap will be larger (~13mm) unless you lower, and the diameter is somewhat small, overreads by 4%. 215/45R17 adds 6mm to the wheel gap and overreads by about 2%
