2.5L on a 4 cylinder. (2.5L is a V6 for the IS 250)
Does the fact its an inline-4 and not a v6 save on production costs?
Most likely it's the Mazda 6 motor and hp. What was it again, 180hp?
2.5L is gonna be the same engine as the new mazda 6, 170HP , 14hp gain over 2009's, This is IMO lol, but 99% right IMO again. I really need a 6 speed . I cant stand the damn revs going to 4K in the highway.... sooo painfull on my pocket
To stay on topic...as much as the new 3 sounds very appealing and also once again class benchmark leading, there is no way I'd go anywhere near it in its first introduction year. New chassis, new engine and new transmission set-up is going to equate to a whole new host of initial build quality problems. Every manufacturer has issues when they introduce a new model and these bugs will need to be worked out. Mazda is better than a lot of manufacturers, but they aren't perfect.
Unfortunately, since there is always a rush to get new models introduced, a lot of the bugs are going to be found in the field and found by all those consumers who rush in to grab the new introductions.
Personally, I'll wait to see how the new model performs and will likely take one for a test drive for a baseline comparison and also to see how it stacks up against the prior gen 3. Then I'll go home, have a few beers, sit back and watch this thread as issues pop up and then I'll watch for how bad those issues are and the subsequent rate of improvement in later models. Once a comfortable level of stability is reached, maybe I'd consider buying one depending on how the competetion also stacked up at that time.
All this said, still exciting to see how the new 3 and MS3 stack up...
i thought it was 2.3l and 2.5l but lol meh and any pics or word or the sport?
What trim levels will have the 2.5L engine? Just the GT or will others have it to?
I know you probably don't know this (but I know nothing about engines), but would the bigger engine have better or worst fuel economy?
On the mazda site for 2009 it says the 2.3 uses more fuel then the 2.0. Or will the 6th gear make up for it?
Or would it be something like the 2.5 would have worse for city driving, but better for highway then the 2.0?
I plan on buying a new car in Feb. I want to buy the car and my plan is to keep it for as long as I can (so preferably at least 10 years).. Now I see people saying worrying things about having bugs with new production runs since things are totally redesigned. How much would I actually have to worry about? If it was major things would that have recalls or extend warranty for the problems? I absolutly love the sound of these 2010 mazda 3.. but Having something that is cost effective (reliable, will last a long time, good gas mileage) outweighs it a bit.
If you're looking for good gas mileage...Mazda3 is not the car for that!! Most people get average gas mileage at best...and with the 2.5L I don't think it's really going to improve.
The only potential I see for improvement on gas mileage is with the 6 speed version of the 2.5L...but even then, I'm ain't holding my breath.
As for reliable, last a long time, etc, I think Mazda does a little better on those fronts.
Anyway just my 2 cents.
Mazda 3 GT 2008, Sunlight Silver
well im not looking at hybrid gas mileage or anything... what's average?
Right now im driving a 1992 Toyota camery and I get on average 10l per 100km
I would like something that is lower then that, but definitely not higher.
I do 90% highway driving... I would like something that would give maybe 8 l /100km.
