    Default Traction Control question

When shifting hard into second gear in slippery conditions (IE: traction light blinking throughout first), will the stability control hit your brakes hard to the point where you notice it and it bogs down? Either that or I really had a bad shift... I've never bogged down the engine throwing it into 2nd gear... Mind you, I did release the clutch aggressively/very quickly, but I was near redline, there's no way the engine should bog down in that case... Was it a horrible shift or traction control?

The traction control will activate and intervene as it deems necessary depending on how hard you are driving. The harder you try to push, and the worse the conditions, the more the traction system will push back to keep you going safely.
It will bog, sometimes, it will cut throttle all together, and then, while you have your foot matted, disengage and then kablamo! Poweerrrr!
So no, its just your traction control, no worries.

stability activates the brakes also(ABS). on a closed course road, turn, lift and yank the handbrake. you will feel the tail come out then abs kicking in to control the slide... or when safe to do so, on slippery surface lift the throttle off in a middle of a wide turn, you will feel the back coming out and stability control braking.

TCS doesn't seem to activate the brakes, it cuts throttle when I acclerate hard on slippery surfaces.

Man thank God it's the stability system... I was freaking out lol. Cutting the throttle makes sense, because I just finished throwing it into 2nd and the car literally felt like I let go of the gas in first gear abruptly...which I guess in theory the car ended up doing on it's own. It's almost like it predicted my "This next shift is gonna make things fun..." and put a stop to my fun. Maybe I just shifted while TCS was doing its own thing...

I guess what I'm wondering is, does TCS know that I'm about to put down way too much power for the conditions, or did it sense the throttle needed cutting and I just happen to shift at that moment?

I've only ever had mine kick in once that I can recall. I thought it was pretty cool.

I was coming through a wet turn a bit too hot and the back end started to come out... then some ABS-like noise and the car righted itself. I was impressed.

it senses depending on wheel speed i believe. if you have it off, it will not intervene.. unless you really get out of hand with the car.. hopefully none of us ever experience that to the point that its uncontrollable..
