Depends on what wrong with it. If you have bad performance or low responce time you would to try to clean .
The sensor uses both sides. Outer side is easy to clean by propane torch and pressured air but if sensor is oiled inside chances are quite low.

the code i got was 2195==>signal stuck at O2 sensor and system lean at idle bank 1
if i unplug battery for 20 min CEL goes away but car starts to act funny ...stalling ,RPM goes up and down and very bad gas millage for last 5 or 6 full tanks i only get 300km or so ..CEL comes back on mostly the same day but with that car doesn't stall and no rough idle either

O2 sensor for sure. They go at around that many k. Symptoms point to that. Runs like crap until the computer figures it out then it goes to a default setting that isn't as good as with a functional o2 but is way better than a broken one.

    EXTRACTED FROM WORKSHOP MANUAL
DTC P2195 Front H02S signal stuck lean

    POSSIBLE CAUSE
    • Front H02S malfunction
    • Fuel injector malfunction
    • Insufficient fuel line pressure
    • Leakage exhaust gas
    • Air suction at intake-air system malfunction
    • Leakage fuel
    • MAF sensor malfunction
    • ECT sensor malfunction
    • PCM malfunction

As you can see here is whole list of possible causes. If you have a possibility, better to visit Mazda’s specialists.
We already have a misinterpretation. From manual the error P2195 is Lean at 1500RPM and higher not at IDLE.
What about strange behavior, I have another version. After reset, the PCM sets the Long Term Fuel Trim to zero and engine stalls. Since time the LTFT is being adjusted to max volume (+25% - +37% ,don’t know exact number for mazda3) , PCM throws CEL but engine works stable, then O2 is not guilty.
You wrote that EGR and Purge valves were checked, but vacuum have to be checked anyway. Remaining O2 sensor, injectors, fuel pressure and ECT - quite much .
The ECT sensor is important too. The 20 degree error gives about 4degree changed Timing Advance.
At low RPM it is very noticeable. Here are many small details which professionals can to diagnose more easily. My explanation of stalling engine is just supposition. All this have to be checked by tools.

this is gona sound crazy but a friend recommended a shop that he's been going to for last few years took the car there told all the symptoms hooks it up and these are the codes that he pulled out
    1==>P0403 EGR circuit malfunction
    2==>P0661 Intake manifold valve malfunction
3==>P2187 System too lean at idle bank 1
4==>P2195 Lack of HO2S B1S1 Sw indicates lean
he ran a few tests and told me nothing seems to be wrong ,clears the code
CEL is gone car is running fine so i pull out of shop and just out the parking lot
CEL back on back to shop but this time only
P2187 system too lean at idle bank 1
clears it again and at the moment everything seems to be working fine
i have driven 50Km since then no CEL yet but i am sure I'll have 1 by tonight
all the answers from shop were could be this or that no sure answer

    DTC P0403
The PCM monitors the input voltage from EGR valve. If voltage at PCM terminals 2AU, 2AR, 2AY and/or 2AV remain low or high, the PCM determines that the EGR valve circuit has malfunction

    DTC P0661
    • The PCM monitors the variable intake-air solenoid valve control signal at PCM terminal 2AJ. If the PCM turns variable intake-air solenoid valve off but voltage at PCM terminal 2AJ still remains low, the PCM determines that variable intake-air solenoid valve circuit has malfunction.

All this wires are coming to PCM to the same socket. Check your PCM harnesses are inserted completely. This may to be a bad connection of one of the engine fuses. Manual says about ENG +B, but I’d check BAR1,BAR2,BAR3,EGI INJ too.

surprising thing is that i didn't get these codes the second time and now i am at 143km since and no CEL yet fingers crossed
could it be the EGR causing all this

Yes, this is the EGR. The EGR operates with exhaust gases and chances that this is the cause are very high, thou with error at 1500rpm you should to have error at IDLE constantly.
I’m worrying about these electric errors. They could appear as result of repair works but after full driving cycle only. EGR valve has a stepper motor and can to be remaining opened if PCM losing power for drivers . To my deep regret, I don’t have the
schematic of PCM and don’t know the exact fuse supplying these drivers. BAR2 is marked
as EGR fuse .Possibly this fuse is used for Variable Intake Valve as well as for EGR .
From picture, I see you have a feeling to work with your car. I’d recommend you lubricate (slightly) the BAR2 fuse pins and maybe harness’s pins related to BAR2. There are special lubricants for electronic contacts but I prefer technical Vaseline. This is a universal lubricant, not curing and appropriate for lubricate plastics too.
Also, you have a decent mileage and a good deal to flush the fuel system.
If you need wiring manual to track the BAR2 wire, you can download it here:

You can list the POSSIBLE causes all you want. P2187 on a Mazda 3 is GOING to be a purge valve. Trust me.

Don’t be hurry with EGR. Gonso is right. If you are not confident with purge solenoid, better to replace it. The last error and its unexpectedness points on this too.
