But to each their own.

    have you owned a BMW?

I do and can tell you that, at an independent shop, labour cost is similar to a Mazda independent shop... and parts can be cheaper as BMW shares parts across different model lines and generations.

In my case, having owned both the Mazdaspeed3 and a BMW, there are some repairs on a Mazdaspeed3 that will cost way more than the comparable on a BMW, and there are some repairs on a BMW that will cost way more than on a Mazdaspeed3.

By and large, it is a wash.

If you don't have personal experience with both, why sully FD22's purchase decision (or anyone's BMW purchase decision) with conjecture?

Excuse me, but my intention was not to sully anything just putting my 2c in. This is a forum right? I did wish him good luck and praised the car, didn't I. So I don't see why the hostility. Anyways I don't think I need to actually own both vehicles to be aware of issues or costs. I can read and I do know alot of people that have these and/or work on these cars. But as I said I believe twice now, I don't claim to be an expert on them.

I wish you guys all the luck with your N54s.

Anyways, I'm no expert on them either just researched them as a workmate had one for sale recently, which I ended up passing on.

@McGuyver_3 Would be the guy to talk to on this as I believe he still works at BMW and works on these things everyday.

@FD22 Good luck on your new purchase, she looks pretty nice.

Yup, definitely some known issues with the platform, like many others. Hence why I tried to make sure I got one with good maintenance history. Most of the common issues I hopefully won't have to deal with as the previous owner already had them taken care of. Then again, not like I emptied the bank account to purchase this car. Made sure I had enough money set aside (ie money I willingly wanna spend lol) for repairs if needed. Hope for the best, but expect the worst, right?

    Thanks man!

haha thanks dude! Always had a soft spot for these cars myself as well, and figured now is as good as a time as any, so decided to just go for it.

hope it treats you well! i just heard mazda is going to put the 2.5L turbo in the 6 so that is now a solid contender of the next rides, that the M2 ( been looking at for a while as well ) or maybe wrx, need something v6 or turbo or both

M2 is almost pointless when the M240i is basically just as good for a lot less.

2nd hand Cricut machine. It's pretty cool. Using it for amazing Christmas cards and a few gloss black stickers right now.

Cool...we got a Silhouette Cameo 3 for my Mom for Christmas. Never used one but says it works well with fabric and she does a ton of quilting.

It's really easy. You just upload images, preferably transparent ones (checkered background) because they print right away - Or use the software which recognizes the contours on the image and you select the areas which you want to cut out.

Takes 2 minutes to set up and it prints quite quickly.

If anyone wants some gloss black decals I can make some up for the TM3 dinner.
