It's a GT which has everything we could want. No point for us to go with the Signature version even though that napa leather interior is very nice

We consider Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot and the Nissan Pathfinder

Never actually drove the Highlander or the Pilot. I like the Santa Fe a lot especially when it comes to what you get for the price but the interior is very "busy" looking and lots of odd shapes so I thought I would get tired of it.

CX-9 interior is very nice, and once I drove it I was sold. 310lbs-ft of torque under 2000rpm makes it an incredibly easy vehicle to drive for something that big. Sure the hp numbers won't blow you away but who cares, it's a 7 seater SUV.

I'm very happy we went with the CX-9. Absolutely no regrets and it'll probably end up being my daily after 4 years

Thanks for the feedback. I'd have to agree with the torque comments. It just felt really peppy.

Also agree on the GT. If I was a retiree or a business guy then maybe Nappa leather makes sense but feel like GT is the better deal. Personally not a huge fan of the reddish brown leather but it does feel really nice.

Only disappointment is that you can't get beige interior with the navy blue paint. Wife really likes the blue and I think beige leather would look awesome with it.

The thing I found with the Highlander was that it was more linear in the acceleration and that it had a softer spring than the CX-9.

Personally I prefer the CX-9 driving characteristics, but wife likes the softer floaty feel of the Highlander, the extra space, and the middle row captains chairs. Downside of Highlander is the third row is tighter but that might be less of an issue since we'll have car seats on both middle row seats so can slide those all the way forward.

At the end of the day it might simply come down to which is the better deal. With loyalty pricing on the Mazda it might win out.

Oh yea last thing. Did you go with the tech package? If so do you use it?

I have similar systems on my 2016 Honda CR-V and not sure I really would find the extra $4000 worth it. They are nice, but certainly not deal breakers.

yea the highlanders a nice ride. just wish for toyota they make the dash a tad more.. exciting. nice. i dunno what the word is. its just kind of the same for a long time and lacks a luster that other manufactures have been able to do.

I bought a ton of maintenance parts: front shocks, rear rotors/brakes, bushings, control arm. Going to see Jimmy on Friday.

I'm hoping mine will last another 3-5 years. That rust is spreading though
