Out of curiosity, what are some other ways I can increase the hp and torque without installing a turbo and paying thousands to adjust my engine with.

Drive it like you stole it...
Lol I feel stupid asking this, but what's a header? (I got a CAI already) and I'm looking into an exhaust system.
Never knew/thought about that, thx for the help! Looking into buying one now (used). lol
also if you know how to rebuild your engine like polishing heads and everything inside etc you could get atleast another 50hp
Also getting engine torque dampers, ecu performance chip.
Take a look at this link: http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/sh...ad.php?t=29633

Buy another car? Tires
By the time you mod and tune and mod some more, you'll spend more than the mazda 3's value.
The returns on investment are poor IMHO if you're looking for more power. The best these mods can do is improve responsiveness, quickness, more top end room.
Rip out the rear seats, passenger seats, door cards, airbags, sound deadening, air conditioning, radio headunit, excess plastic, spare tire. There's a good 500lb's of waste in our cars.
Ripping stuff out doesn't cost money, and definitely will be a huge boost.
156hp on a 2900lb car can become a 156hp on a 2400lb car.
agreed..
changing your power to weight ratio will improve acceleration times much more than any other non-turbo mod..
Start a new credit card and order some NA parts from Ford Cosworth department. Convert to cable actuated (from fly-by-wire) and get the big bore TB, intake header, BSD, etc etc
Diesel tractor...
definitely altezza tail lights and some NOS stickers
Yep. they're all drive-by-wire throttle.
The computer controls things to a finer point, but the disadvantage is that you no longer have direct throttle control. your inputs go through an electronic committee, rather than directly to the throttle body.
There is a theory which states that a billion monkeys pounding on a billion keyboards will eventually produce the works of Shakespeare.
Thanks to the Internet, we now know this theory is wrong.
thought as much. lol and I guess it's pretty safe to assume that converting to a direct linkage and a different throttle body would completely void my engine warranty. lol only 4.75 years to go before i do that mod
That has to be good for 20 hp at the wheels.
There are a couple of things to think about; making more power, and putting the power you make to the ground.
Some of this is redundant, however:
I/H/E
motor / tranny mounts
those darkstar (medieval) suspension bushings
lighter wheels / tires
bored out tb
port / polish
thinner head gasket
intake mani
Rebuild your engine for higher compression; EMS.
light weight pulleys
And don't forget that dodad that makes the pshhh sound!
I think the deciding factor is how much coin you have to spend, and what your tolerance for potential downtime / breakdowns is.
Is not here
a set of light weight pulleys
Just do what the Honda guys do and throw some 'Mugen Power' stickers on the car. Should be good for at least 100 more VTEC points...
Failing that, yes, intake, DP and muffler, or just buy a friggin' MS3 already...

^^^lmao!!
or lose 500lbs off the car.
the 3 at 2400lb's would be soooo awesome. That's honda fit /yaris territory but with 156hp plus whatever mods intake dp head exhaust, maybe 170hp
170hp on 2400lb would be freaking awesome and quick.
i'm tempted to shed weight off my car. going to make a new thread
500lbs is a hell of a lot of weight to lose man.

Do that and it better not see the street. The pulling the airbag would be my big concern. Not to mention the fact you're now driving a very large one seater.
