The evo X gsr 5 speed gets anywhere from 140 km to 270 km (depending on how liberal you are with the throttle) on a tank of gas. I can't think of any v8 or v10 for that matter that gets that bad gas mileage. I'll stick with my MS3 that gets 500 km to a tank.

That is really bad! The Evo on the track get's 140-270 km/tank? That is horrible. What about on the street normal driving conditions. Maybe will get 400 km's I would think. How do you know this info big dad??

I don't know anyone myself that owns one. Sorry I thought you meant on the track. That would totally change my mind about the whole car. Is the STi just as bad?

The MS3 is a fuqin ugly car. All hatchbacks in my opinion are ugly as ****. They should all be destroyed. Ugly.. ****.

Subu's are a also looking pretty ugly too...ALL evo's looked good in my opinion, except the wagon ones that came out --- but hatchbacks are a basically mini wagons ... holy shit did I mention hatches are ugly?

Aren't rally cars limited to 300 hp? If so I don't see the STI or Evo getting any more HP because to have a car in the rally, the car has to be a sellable car to the public minute a few upgrades etc.

Tell us how you really feel...

The MS3 is a hot looking car, and IMO the hatches are sportier and more aggresive looking than a sedan.

Judging by your opinion on the looks of the MS3 I take it you don't own one, correct? And if that is in fact the case, you shouldn't be allowed to express your negative opinions in the "MazdaSpeed 3 Forum". Join the "Sedan Syndicate" and bash us hatch owners all you want there.

In Europe, I believe the Evo is 360 hp and their Ralliart is 300 hp. They can put the hp up to whatever they want, the ones being sold to the public aren't real rally cars. If you want a real rally car, buy the Evo or STi and pay $20,000 to send it to Europe and get Prodrive to give it a once over. Rally cars are also limited to 2L, why then is the WRX and STi both 2.5L?

Yea, but the STi has been 2.5L ever since it debuted in North America in 2004, I believe. I'm just trying to say that car companies will not stick strictly to rally rules when selling the vehicles to the public. It makes no sense. It's much easier to make a reliable 300 hp car at 2.5L than it is at 2L. Also, 300 hp isn't anything special anymore, normal family sedans keep getting more and more hp, how would it make sense to keep these two cars pinned at 300 hp while even a V6 Camry now has 275 or 280 hp, whatever it is.

Last time when I was in Europe (2007) and went into a subaru dealer. The STi came with a 2L 280hp engine. He said that now there are regulations on these cars because of insurance. I told him in North America the STi is 300 hp. It may also to do with emissions. Although the lates news from a Subie sealer that the 2010 Sti's are gonna have 365hp. Now that is a nice improvement. No word on yet about the Evo, but there are talks it is also going up in HP. Lets wait 'till late summer and find out!

I think you were missing at least a 0, if not more. I think a WRC car can cost close to half a million bucks.

WRC cars are purpose built race cars and share less than 10% of their parts with their road-going counterparts (still more than NASCAR) but the automakers have to homologate a production model that becomes the basis for the race car. They are limited in displacement to 2.0 litres which is why the cars in Europe and Japan are 2.0 litres, those markets also don't mind higher strung peaky powerplants whereas Americans like torque and smoothness, hence the bump in displacement.

$20,000 with Pro-drive might get you a set of wheels, a roll cage, and maybe an exhaust...hehe...I tend to agree, it'll likely be upwards of $200K+ to build a proper rally car.

test drove an evo x in vancouver (they let you test drive without a annoying sales person sitting beside you). i didn't like the clutch, it was way too soft in my opinion. the interior was really cheap as well. i would not trade my speed 3 for an evo x.

I hear you. I also did feel that the clutch was too soft and grabbed right at the top of the pedal. The dash was so cheap I thought I was in a used Hyundai Accent. The power also didnt impress me. I'm keeping my MS3
    for sure.

i did like the shifter though, very smooth

but yah, good decision on keeping your MS3. i personally think that the evo IX was much better.

I agree. My friend just brought in an Evo VIII from the states and it's a buch better handling and performing car. It's a blast to drive. He would never give it up for and Evo X.

After all it's a fact that we should keep our MS3's and not spend the extra money on something over rated!
