    Default iPhone compatible Double-Din decks

This might be a strange question if you are unfamiliar with iPod touches / iPhones -
Thanks to apple, they thought it'd be a brilliant idea to change how iPod Touches / iPhone's charge, and the old cables no longer charge them (you can get adapters now)

However, I'm looking for a Pioneer or similar style Double Din video deck - which supports the iPhone *and* charges it (without the need of another adapter)

I'm trying to find a clear list somewhere, which shows decks that are fully iPhone compatible, and I'm having a heck of a time.

It seems like most of the Pioneer decks have the iPod cables, and it seems like they would support the iPhone, but they don't make it clear if it charges it or not..

    Do you guys have any experience with this? I'm currently using the Audiolink iPhone adapter, which works great - because it charges the iPhone too;

I'm just looking for better sub control, so I'm guessing my only choice here is to upgrade to an aftermarket deck.

Any help would be appreciated -

    I'm currently looking at

Pretty darn sure the new Eclipse AVN726e is I-phone compatable. I will double check tomorrow.

Not sure about just video players, but I have the Pioneer AVIC F700BT with iPod adapter cable as well as an iPod Touch (32GB 1st gen) and it charges the iPod while playing.

Oh, by video - I just meant the regular touchscreen ones, like an AVIC.

Yes, but the ones you listed are just video. The one I have is NAV with video. I doubt there'd be much difference in how the iPod adapter works, but you never know.

Do you find that kenwoods are now preferred over Pioneer, or does it still come down to personal choice?

It's still a personal choice...both brands are good. For me, it came down to price and which user interface I liked. I liked the Pioneer and the price agreed at the time I bought it.

Kenwoods seem very very expensive in comparison to the Pioneer units...

but hell, as long as they both charge iPhones, which they seem to - based on their sites - any should be fine

The entire Pioneer series is now discontinued, so there are definitely deals to be had. They are a little hinky with their boot times, even with the software revision and are prone to noise due to the circuit design on the preout section. (and the entire Pioneer line has shared this for over 20 years now). The Kenwood DNX8120 model was a astounding model, leaps ahead of the Pioneer. The new DNX8140 is going to be a improvement on it, although at a drastic increase in price over the DNX8120. The Eclipse just arrived in my door today and it is sure to be a solid performer as the award it already received shows. I know it will control a i-phone, want to see for sure about the charging.

Wow, so Pioneer is dropping out of Car Audio in general, or just for the decks? I guess we won't see any price drops at places like Future Shop til last minute...

That kinda sucks - maybe I should seriously start looking at Kenwood. Are there any places that you would recommend getting the kenwoods from? I guess our sponsors such as Audio Heaven and Selective Sound would be a good start. I haven't really looked into Eclipse yet.
