because its rust...I figured that advice about rust would help my situation and since this one has already been brought back to life I'd jump in...if you would like to delete it, go ahead, Ill bring back on of the other ones if its more suitable.
Well...I ASSUMED that since it is "rust coloured dots" then it must be rust...so I guess I will go with they are rust coloured dots...
whats the difference? wouldnt rust colored = rust?
(Im reading this and it kind of sounds sarcastic...but its not lol)
Because you have an issue that's related to rust, it should be in the thread that is most related to your specific issue. Not just any random rust thread you may find.
The issue you have is particle contamination in your clear coat which rust (not in the same way that rust is affecting the OPs 3rd brake light) that can be removed my claying your car. All white cars show it the most. I myself get them every year. I assume this is the issue you are having.
EDIT: Please see this thread for your issue.

fair enough. any suggestion on how to prevent it? thanks for the advice...you can remove the posts.
I apologize for the ignorance on the thread posting, honestly I was just hoping to get an answer and I figured since this is back to life that I would get an answer the fastest here. But I will be more careful with my posting.
Hard to prevent it, just clay bar the car and put a few coats of wax, it will help. White is the worst colour for showing "rail dust".

I have the same rail dust on my silver 3 and I have used clay bar on it 3 times and it didn`t do jack. Maybe I waited to long who knows. But it doesn`t hurt to try. Good luck.
This thread is about rust around the 3rd brake light. Let's keep this on topic!
I love my Mazda but the rust scares me. My car doesn't have any visible bubbling or rust yet, but I rustproof the car every year and on top of that I spray extra rustproofing in problem areas, including the third brake light, every year, late summer or early fall. I would sugget for others to do the same. Just buy a spray can of Krown, Rust Cure or Rust Check and apply to the fenders and third brake light.
