I have them and love them. The bass on these them is just incredible and definitely blows bose, sony, and sennheiser out of the water. Vocals are crystal clear. The noise cancelling is great and actually works, unlike a lot of other headphones on the market. The headphones req. one AAA battery , but it lasts for quite a while (I have changed the battery once over the 4 months of owning them). The only downside to them is that they make your ears warm .... imagine wearing a pair of earmuffs for hours on end or during a hot summer day.
My GF bought me the Beats as a gift, but I really question whether I would buy them if I had to cough up the dough. If your strapped for cash and don't want to spend the money on the Beats, I would recommend getting a pair of "Bang and Olufsen" headphones. Best bang for your buck IMO. I am sure there are better brands out there for "studio" headphones, but I just compared all the mainstream brands.
PS: Don't wear them out in public at night (esp. in shady areas or on the subway) cause your only asking for trouble. With all the celebrity promotion, these headphones are becoming a sought after item.
For $350, you can get some SICK headphones! Never tried the Dr.Dre ones but that could just be brand name hype. I don't know. However, if they're just for listening pleasure and you want the latest, greatest, flashiest...I guess they would do. If you're using them for studio recording or mixing and mastering, I would look elsewhere (Sennheiser, Audio Technica, AKG). If they're for DJ'ing, take a look at Pioneer or even Denon.

The Beats are made by Monster .... yes, the same company that charges ridiculous prices the same HDMI wires that can be had on monoprice.com for $4 !
I still love my BEATS !!!
for DJing i use the sony mdr-v700. Very good quality sound but lots of ppl have reported them to break often at the earcup swivel joint. Hasn't happened to me in my 2-3 years of owning them though. They noise cancel perfectly but will hurt your ears if you use them for hours on end
I listened to my friends, and I think I was expecting too much from them, there is a lot of hype about them. Truthfully, I wasnt that impressed.
Haters !
we have them at my store. They are great sound quality and everything but if you're using it for DJing or audio mixing etc you don't want to use them because they change the sound.
No Whip :-\
pretty expesnive but a friend of mine uses em
he says they are pretty good for short djing sessions
i love mine. worth my money
but i guess how much something is worth is different in others' eye
same as it being expensive....
arent dr dre beats dr peppers property lmao
They say I'm an addict but I don't have a problem with alcohol or drugs. I'm an addict because I can't live without bass. Car audio is my addiction. And it will never change.
i like dr.pepper me = fat
Just an FYI, the in-ear Beats by Dr. Dre's are on sale July 31-Aug. 2 at Canada Computers for $119.95 (Reg. $198.95). Just throwing it out there for anyone interested.

^^mm thanks. too bad you can test out those in ear ones first
I've got a pair of Sony MDR-7506 and they're amazing. I haven't tried any others other than the headphones they had at the Sony store, but these were the clearest and most comfortable when played out of an ipod nano.
After purchasing them, I've noticed that some of the radio talk shows uses the same ones. Woot.

Here's a set of headphones which obliterates Dre's. At this price, not only should they sound good, they should also massage your temples, wash-cut-blowdry-and-comb your hair, give you a facial, provide oxygen underwater, provide thermal x-ray and night imaging and basic Lasik eye surgery.
Sennheiser HD800

Wana try the Bugatti beyond..$7G's for Headphones!
The Dre Beats are pretty sick, they're made by Monster, those guys that make those amazing cables? yeah. I've tested them, and they're pretty sweet, but i'm really a Shure fan....
I've used Shure in-ear buds, they were amazing sound quality and amazing sound isolation, but at an amazing price... (base price is $100, topping off at $500 for the best model)
I bought a pair of SRH440 for about $150, and their amazing, if you really want you can get the SRH840's, which are still under $300.
i dunno if the Beats are over priced because of the name... it definitely has amazing quality, but not sure if it's worth the price tag...
If anyone is interested, these bad boys are on sale for $90 off on apple.ca

I work at futureshop and we ahve these on demo along side noise cancellation headphones. Both pairs run for 349.99 and are absolutely amazing. the Beats have an unreal bass to them and the noise cancellation are just insane!
